The books are absolutely wonderful although the first one does require some patience at the start while the story gets going. Book #2 is my favorite and book #3 is very good with a satisfying ending. Deborah Harkness's research is incredible. She is a professor of history, and it shows in her writing.
I've seen the first season of the show and it sticks pretty close to the book, for which I was very grateful.
Eggzactly what Lauren said. I am almost done with season two and I am enjoying it too.Be sure to read Harkness's bio information, blew me away.
Thanks for your feedback. I'm going to try to find the show again. I stopped in the book store on my way home and the first book is on sale--I bought it. What can I say but I have an addiction.
I’ve read or listened to the books at least four times. I hope I don’t sound ridiculous, but I learn something new each time. The Yale/Oxford professor/lecturer/ whatever managed to sneak an awful lot of history and science into her popular fiction.
If anyone decides to go the audiobook route, Jennifer Ikeda's narration is out of this world. She really makes the characters and the story come alive.
I would kill to get the second and third book on audio from the library, because you are right about Ikeda's narration.

You've convinced me! I'll try audio.

I watched the first free episode. It was great. I'm going to pay for the service and continue. The actors are very good, and there is an eerie and suspenseful feel through the whole episode.
Sharon wrote: "I'm going to try the audio after I watch the series."Enjoy! Keep in mind that the book series is finished, but the show only has 2 seasons (one for each book). The 3rd season has no release date yet.
Thanks Lauren. I figure once I get involved with the series, reading/listening to the books will enhance the series instead of take away.
My son has access to AMC so I can watch the series without spending money on another streaming service. Yahoo!

I think I gained a lot more from the series because I understood everything that was going on from having read the books. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

It looks like it is supposed to be on Prime but when I tried to watch the timer kept searching until I backed out after ten minutes.
