The Pint of No Return (A Sloan Krause Mystery, #2) by Ellie Alexander

Summary

No other festival compares to Oktoberfest in Leavenworth, Washington. The whole town is buzzing with excitement over this year’s activities and eagerly awaiting Nitro’s latest offering Cherrywizen, made with locally sourced cherries. But local brewmaster Sloan Krause is tapped out. Between trying to manage the pub, her pending divorce with Mac, and her mounting feelings for Garrett, she’s fermenting in internal turmoil.

To complicate matters, dreamy movie star Mitchell Morgan and his production crew have arrived in the village to film during the authentic Bavarian brewfest. Mitchell has his eye on Sloan and a taste for Nitro’s Cherrywizen. Sloan escapes his advances for good when she finds Mitchell slumped over the bar. Is this a case of one pint too many, or has Mitchell been murdered by microbrew?

Donna Schmidt | 141 comments Hello Cozy fans! I am so happy to lead this discussion! Yes! Leavenworth, Washington is a real location and fits her description! Does a great location help make a book?

Donna Schmidt | 141 comments Is anyone else reading this cozy? It is such a fun series! If you have been to a German Oktoberfest you can relate to the beginning. You can hear the accordions playing the Chicken Dance! Sit back and grab a beer and enjoy the read!

Donna Schmidt | 141 comments This was such a fun read. A great series! If you ever go to Washington state definitely go to Leavenworth, WA and check out the great German town! I want to try adding beer to some recipes!!

Linda (beaulieulinda117gmailcom) | 1403 comments I finished this morning. I thought it was pretty good. I liked the descriptions of the town and some about craft beer.

Julesy I absolutely ADORE Ellie Alexander's writing (Bakeshop series and Pacific Northwest series). I decided to skip this series even though I can get the books at my libraries. The reason is because another group who were discussing this book said there are a lot of descriptions of beer. I don't drink beer, don't like the taste. So detailed beer descriptions will certainly make me nauseous just like when I read other cozies with a lot of food details on prepping, recipes, etc. that I don't care for (i.e., chocolate, pumpkin).

I'm glad to see that others are enjoying the book. She is a very good cozy author and is one of my favorites.

Donna Schmidt | 141 comments I am so glad you enjoyed it!!! Yes such a fun read! Did you get tempted to have a beer while reading? The bake shop series might be really dangerous for me if I get tempted to bake!!

Icewineanne | 725 comments Unfortunately I couldn’t join you this month, Donna. I have a copy of Death on Tap that I still haven’t read and I’m a stickler about reading a series in order. Really hoping to start the series this summer. Sounds very fun judging by the comments.
Cheers!

Donna Schmidt | 141 comments I hope you enjoy them. I really do but partly because I drove through Leavenworth, WA and decided it was a place I wanted to go. A real location that she describes so well. Plus the beer descriptions makes me try unique brews and get a bit creative with baking!
