I can only answer for the darkling because I dont know maven (sorry for my ignorance). I trully enjoy the darkling, he was the perfect villain but I wish he could have changed in the last minute so he could stay with Alina. But obviusly I have to addmit that them he wouldnt be so intriguing....

For both, I like that they're both realistic villains [well, at least Maven] but they should stay villains because while I shipped them with the female mcs, I don't think they'd ever become selfless heroes.

I think that if there was a way for Elara's influence over Maven (even after her death) to be removed then yes, 100%- we see right up until the very last book that the effects of her interference was still holding him prisoner, without it I think Maven would have a much better chance at redemption. The Darkling I think had a chance too, maybe not as much- he's who he is because of his own choices, and even in ROW we see that he's still following his own selfish pursuits- though I will admit he does have good reasons/ intentions he just goes about it the wrong way. I think he could get redemption, because there are times were we see a more human side to him, but I think it would take a lot of work.

I actually don't know the Darkling, but my opinion on Maven is no. He cannot be redeemable unless he sacrifices himself to save Mare. Then he might be. Then again, I am very much biased because even though I ship Cal and Mare, I thought he could be a very good friend of Mare, and he ended up breaking my heart. Soooo......yeah......
