I know my copy is HEAVY. it's almost 450 pages for the hardcover and my copy is longer and wider than your typical book.

and someone has attached themselves and pushes voices into Justin's head

Mae however, has 2 options - a god and a goddess, one dark one light.... and she's still.. being fought over? because she doesn't sleep, the goddess hasn't gained more control
right? am I missing anything?

this one got REALLY weird....the last 1/2 was just...weird.

why, I still don't get why these gods pick people and then kill them if they don't choose (hide spoiler)]

Mae(view spoiler)[ another great example of a weird goddess that claimed her, gave her virtually no information and then tried to kill her. Ugh, it just got annoying to try to understand it all (hide spoiler)]

Tessa(view spoiler)[ by far the most annoying part of this story was trying to try pull her story into everything
I didn't care she was sneaking off, drinking and committing possible terrorist attacks. it just bogged down the book because I didn't really like Tessa (hide spoiler)]

meh. I gave it two stars....I don't plan on moving on with the series.

I'm not sure how I like the switching pov each chapter. It was fine when it was just Justin and Mae but now Tessa too? It's interesting but hard to keep up with.

I want to know what Justin did and who the god is that controls the ravens.

I ended up liking the book a lot. It was confusing and weird at times but Richelle Mead is one of my favorite authors. I kept reading and enjoyed where the story is going. I enjoy weird things sometimes though. haha

So here is my take on it. Justin was claimed or taken or whatever you want to call it. It's kind of like making a deal with devil but just not knowing which god instead of devil claimed you. Justin was able to find a loop hold in the deal. Therefore the god had already given Justin the ravens and the powers.

Mae was born and blessed by some crazy evil type god. Who thought she had a claim on Mae because of that. When the people she claimed didn't follow through she killed them. Which is some weird way made her more powerful anyways. Which is probably why they had to kill someone for these "perfect" babies to be born in the first place.

I like that by the end we knew which god had claimed Justin. I didn't think we would and that would end up being one thing we would discover as the books went on. Keep ya hanging and all that. I do agree that there wasn't much point for us to see Tessa's POV unless maybe she has some bigger roll in the books to come? Or just that one interview with the guy in the nursing home???? I'm not really sure. Those chapters were okay but kind of pointless other than that.

I'll probably read the next one but maybe not right away. I'm a little behind on reading right now. haha

It was soooo much better and the pace of the book was much better. But we still read from Tessa's pov and this time I felt like it was even less important. Lol
