Jade Michaelson (goodreadscomjmichaelson06) | 289 comments I think 3 children get a new nanny, and they notice she is a bit weird. The parents like her, the details are really foggy. I think she was locked in their attic until they accidently release her, then she gets a job as their nanny. They might have ended up burning the house down in an attempt to get rid of her. I can't remember if she was actually mean to them or just overly attached, but at the end of the book their parents find a new house, and the kids think they're rid of her, until they see her ghostly appearance in their back seat and she whispers something like 'forever' or 'always'.

I think I was a pre-teen when I read it and it freaked me out for weeks. Would be great to read it again. I am almost 100% sure it was not by R.L.Stine but it was similar to a Fear Street or Goosebumps book, maybe written for a slightly older crowd.

Do you remember the cover?
Part of a series?
How far into the book does the reader get when they find out that the nanny was locked in an attic?

It's not either of those, but thanks!

It was a stand alone book, not in a series. I can't remember the cover other than I think it looked a little creepy. I think it's pretty early on that they unlock her from the attic, but I read a ton of books, especially when I was younger, and I might be getting storylines crossed.
