What's the Name of That Book???

It's about a world where everyone earns coins in a video game and it equals your real life money. It's a virtual reality. The main character is a boy and he is poor. He may or may not be the only one able to earn money in his family.
The boy dies in the game. There are different classes of characters and most use the usual classes. After the boy dies, he decides to try something a little different. He chooses to appear as a girl and a pirate (I'm pretty sure there was another class thing like he may have picked charm or somthing).
Right away, he is lucky in the game. I do not believe I ever read further. Or I just don't remember.
I am pretty sure (if I remember correctly) it was a male author, a one word title, and it was one book in a series. I think the cover was dark and pretty plain maybe also it was a pretty small book and not very thick. Soft cover pretty sure. This last bit of info could be all wrong though so... O.O Any help would be much appreciated! <3
