looking for a book - 4th grade~5th grade level. I read it around 2015 and it's about a bus accident and a man who repetitively kicks at something? at a bus stop. This man eventually saves someone (a baby I think) when the bus runs over the baby. There's also a mother involved- I think the man and the mother were at the right place at the right time so they could save the baby, but from what I remember the mom died? in the accident. Also unsure but I think the title had something to do with one step forward? or something like that. I think it followed two timelines, and the man being there had something to do with fate
