Melissa | 5 comments Read in the early 2000's, I think. Maybe from an indie author.
There was a female elf on the cover with purple hair. Also something about tattoos connected to magic use.
The female elf's parents were gay, but I don't think that was a major plot point.

NPC is what?
Devs?

Full words are better than abbreviations or acronyms.

Amber (ajennell) | 3 comments NPC = Non Playable Character
Devs = Developers

Though, to be fair, NPC and Dev are the main terms that the genre is known for and more people will know NPC, for example, than Non Playable Character.

Melissa, can you remember if the book was translated from Japanese or originally in English? Could it have felt WoW (World of Warcraft) or DnD (Dungeons and Dragons) influenced?

Melissa | 5 comments I don't think wasn't translated, but I can't be 100% sure. It could have been WoW or DnD influended. I didn't actually finish reading it, I was annoyed at how it seemed to switch from fantasy to Scifi halfway though. I think when when the NPC elf character was brought into the real world.

I found it at Tattered Cover, a book store. But it was a random pick off the shelf. Not sure if that helps or not.

message 7: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 5 comments I scrolled through both pages of the list. I didn't see anything that looked similar, though a couple I'd like to read. (That's an awesome list.)

Melissa | 5 comments It is! OMG, thank you so much. I was starting the think I'd just made it up. This is amazing. I'll have to get another copy and give it a read.

Thanks again!
