March Monthly Report/Wrap Up

Alright Everyone,

It's been another month, and it's time to see where everyone is. Are you keeping up the pace? Are you falling behind?

Well, I'll kick things off

This month, I've read 9 books, bringing my total up to 29 books! I am just where I need to be, which is great since March was a crazy month for me.

Here are some of my Favorites

Calamity by Brandon Sanderson: Expertly wrapped up the Reckoners Trilogy. The best YA series I've read yet.

The Poisoned Chalice by James Swallow: Continues the story of "The Fall" and is a fun political thriller set in Star Trek.

Didn't have any books I didn't like this month. All 3 star books or higher. That's a good month in my opinion. I always am happy when I enjoy the books I read.

I READ ZERO BOOKS. Yes, you read that right. Zero.

I’m still at 28 for the year. I’m 10 books behind schedule.

Oh well.

I just got back from St Simons Island and the last time I was there I found this amazing little used bookstore next to the pier. That’s where I bought my nearly-100-year-old copy of Edgar Allan Poe’s complete works that was published in 1925. I was so excited to go back there and see what else I could find- only to find that it went out of business!! (Insert heartbreak here).

Better luck in April. It’s birthday month for meeeeee!

I read three books in March. All completed in the first week. After that, I didn't even start another one. Still about 3 books ahead of pace though. Rough month due to many things and I've struggled to find any desire to read. April is a new month! Sitting outside today in the sunshine reading The Outpost, which I've been saving and now seemed like the perfect occasion!

I was able to consume 24 books this month. that bring my total to 55.

These are some books I enjoyed this month.

For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway was a great story with a signature Hemingway ending.

The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom is a powerful story that shows God's faithfulness in one of the darkest periods in history.

Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton is one of my favorite books and movies of all time. This intelligent science fiction thriller is enjoyable every time.

Oops. 🤦‍♀️ super late with this! In the month of March, I read five books, bringing my total to 17 this year. It was a busy month, so I’m proud of myself for even reading one. Mentionable books are 1) The Midnight Library. This was the Goodreads top book of the year, I think? And it was good. I did like it. But.... number one? Over Anxious People?! No. I would casually recommend it, but I don’t get the hype. 2) Fifty Words for Rain by Asha Lemmie. This one was my favorite book I have read this year. I couldn’t put it down. 3) Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. I want to love this series as much as my students, but I’m on the second book and still struggling. I think it’s good, but I don’t get the hype at all. However, I do love how it makes certain learning disabilities seem like superpowers. I also think I struggle to enjoy a first person narrative. I will keep reading on... apparently, the writing matures as Percy matures, and I am interested to see that.

The Midnight Library beat out "Anxious People" for the Goodreads Choice Award by 5 votes. Only FIVE VOTES! I've never seen a margin that small with over 500,000 votes tallied. Pretty incredible.
