Just to give us all another excuse to get together and read, we'll have a 24 hour reading sprint on April 12th, starting at 12:00 AM UTC (convert to your time here)

Mini Challenges: these are optional! You may read as little as 10 pages to participate :)
* Read at least 750 pages in 24 hours
* Participate in a buddy read during the sprint (create your thread here, you don't have to wait for a mod to create it for you)
* Read for a minimum of 3 consecutive hours
* Spell out "DEAR" (standard spell-it-out rules apply, you would have to read 4 books, each at least 100 pages long)
* Read a book published on April 12th of any year

Spell-it-Out Rules
Using the first letter in the book’s title, the first letter of the series name, the first letter in the author’s first or last name, or the first letter of a character’s first, last, or nick-name, or the first letter in the audio book narrator's first or last name.
If you are reading a translated version, you can also use the first letter of the translator's first or last name.

As always, if the first letter of a title starts with ‘A’, ‘An’, ‘The’, etc., you may use the first letter of the second word in the title to spell out your chosen word

Reserve your spot below! We'll see you on April 12th!

Sounds interesting! Hope you like it!

I’m going to read Whisper by Tal Bauer. It’s over 700 pages long and I want to read it slowly, so nothing else on the agenda for me 😄

Laurie B | 928 comments I've stalled a bit on my current read - A Soldier's Secret: The Incredible True Story of Sarah Edmonds, Civil War Hero, but I'm over 100 pages in and like it well enough, so I don't want to DNF. I will use this opportunity to try to power through it!

Judy | 4065 comments I really, really want to join in on this... it's been so long since I read a lot in a single day... but I have assignments to catch up on so I don't think I'll manage much, if anything at all :(

Anyway... tentative TBR:

A Curious Beginning - 53% to finish

So this will be my first time to participate in a 24hr readathon, how do I get started? Just start reading/ listening? This might be a dumb question, with the 3 consecutive hours, does that mean I have to listen to a book for 3 straight hours?

Hi Alyana! You can read at anytime during that 24 hour window, starting at 12 AM UTC on April 12. The mini challenges are to make the sprint more interesting. However, you don’t have to take part in a mini-challenge to participate in the sprint. If you choose to tackle 3 consecutive hours of reading, go ahead and mark off your start and finish times, starting at whatever time is convenient for you.

And yea, you’d have to listen to/ read your book for 3 straight hours 😊

Oh okay! Yeah I don't think I can do the 3 straight hours. Lol. I'll still participate in the readathon but I'll just listen to what I can :)

it's fun! I've been meaning to read this for ages and it does live up to the hype. it's definitely suffering from me reading it in one to two chapter chunks but maybe this readathon is going to change that :)

message 39: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Almost time! I'm starting with A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. It is due back to the library tomorrow night and I have the electronic copy, which means they will snatch it away whether I finish or not so I have some good motivation to really focus on it once I start. Otherwise, I'll be waiting weeks to get it back and finish it.

I've been there too. That will probably be me trying to get far enough into the book tonight, then putting everything else off tomorrow. My loan will expire just a couple of hours after DEAR ends.

message 49: by Sana (new)

Sana Zameer (sanazameer) | 797 comments Just finished You, Me, and the Sea and taking a small break. Been reading for over 4 hours.

message 50: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I listened to quite a bit of First Comes Like earlier while making dinner and then had a bath with a few chapters of A Curious Beginning (and a glass of wine)! Hoping to get another few chapters of A Curious Beginning in before sleep...

I still don't know which mini challenge I'm going to try for – I feel like I simply have too much to do for 3 consecutive hours of reading and somehow the 750 pages seem more achievable 😅
