American popular culture is filled with stories of criminals and crime from the 1920's including Bonnie and Clyde, Al Capone, John Dillinger and more. Popular films tell the story of FBI agents tracking down crime bosses and literature recounts tales from the era of Prohibition.

Before you begin reading, why do you think the Osage murders have not received similar attention?

Rhoda | 7 comments I read this book several years ago and it still gets to me. These murders were not publicized because this book is all about greed. The phrase "follow the money" definitely applies to this true story. This part of American history was swept under the rug because there was nothing moral or ethical about it. It's all about rich people trying to get richer and getting away with it at the expense of an entire family of Osage Indians. I would definitely recommend this read. It is a great book club book as well.
