Tony L. (tonyljoy) | 2 comments I published a book that seems to have automatically created a page on Goodreads using "Tony L Joy" with no periods, however when I has originally set my author profile up I used "Tony L. Joy" with a period. I edited my books to have no period in the author name before realizing it wasn't as simple as just changing my author name.

It looks like I need to have the books on the unclaimed "Tony L Joy" profile moved back to the existing author profile, then have the profiles merged to use "Tony L Joy" without a period in the author name.

Suzi | 8661 comments Goodreads cataloging standards require that author names have a period after initials. This is policy, regardless of how an author's name is formatted on any retail outlet such as Amazon.

I have moved the books back to your profile.

Allison Williams (allisonkwilliams) | 3 comments I have the same problem. I am Allison K Williams, but Goodreads has issued me with a period. However, my forthcoming book is credited to K without the period. Can someone please merge me?

Also, how do we get Goodreads to change this policy? My name does not have a period in it. It has never had a period in it, because the K doesn't stand for anything. It's hard enough to get people to print it correctly without it being wrong on Goodreads :)

Thanks for your help!

We don't have the ability to change policy in this group. You can write to Goodreads and let them know your opinion from the link in the description on the group home page.
I moved your book to your profile, but you will need to ask them to merge the profiles to move the followers over.

Next time just start a new thread, as this one is tied to a particular book at the top.
