While i was in high school my librarian suggested a book series to me and now that i’ve grown a bit i want to go back and read it but the name slipped my mind. I remember there is atleast two books but there may be more. (spoiler beyond this point) The first book took place on a plantation where there was a mansion. The main protagonist was raised separately from the plantation because he was an illegitimate child birthed by one of the mansions maids. his maid-mother hid him from the plantation owners but was found one day was then adopted into the mansion to treat like some of the other children that lived there (school, living, etc.) but as this went he began getting abused by his teachers and people surrounding him because he was liked by a plantation owner. he became mentally broken while being kept in a pigsty by his teachers. <—- that’s about as much as i got i can’t remember the chronological order of the rest of the book i hope that is enough information to help find this book. thanks for the help!
