Point horror

I’m looking for a book I THINK was a point horror book I read in the 90’s- it’s about a teenage girl who has some kind of accident in the wood near her house, a boy she likes who is a neighbour helps her and after the accident she has a ‘guardian angel’, with his encouragement she cuts her hair and becomes more outgoing but ultimately the guardian angel turns out to be something more sinister. I remember the neighbour boy thought she was younger, the guardian angel was a teenage boy who had had some kind of accident in the woods himself and died I think. I’ve looked through Point Horror lists but can’t find anything that matches, any suggestions would be great :-)
