Hey! I’m jealous! I usually read with Vickie over the phone 😃. I don’t know if my library has this or I can join. I’m trying to drag Vickie into a King book at some point 😂🤣
Vickie wrote: "Looking forward to it! And yes, Mel, we're definitely going to read King too.😘"Me too Vickie!!
Jennifer wrote: "This is a most excellent novel."So many have loved this one and glad you did too Jennifer!
Trying to keep my expectations in check but it’s hard. 🤣
Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ wrote: "I’ve placed it on hold. Wait time, 3 weeks."For this one Mel or something else?
If it’s this one, I hope it comes in time. 3 weeks sounds about right when we’ll be getting to it.
Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ wrote: "I’ve never heard of it so I’ll be jumping in not knowing a thing 😊"Yay Mel!! The best way to read a book. I love not knowing anything about the plot.

This is my first time trying a book this way and yes it’s supposed to come in, in 3 weeks 😊
Latasha wrote: "It’s so good! Y’all are in for a treat!"That’s what I’ve heard from so many. Can’t wait to check it out!
I wish I forget this book so I could read it for the first time all over again with you guys! Enjoy!!
Michelle wrote: "I wish I forget this book so I could read it for the first time all over again with you guys! Enjoy!!"I wish you could forget it as well. hahaha!
Thanks Michelle!
Jen wrote: "This has been on my TBR for ages! I'd love to join in!"Please do Jen! So glad you can join us next month!
Marie Helene wrote: "I'd love to join ... Michael McDowell never disappoints 🤩"Yay!! I'm so glad you can join Marie Helene!
I'm enjoying it so far, but I have to say, it's bothering me the way these family members are addressing each other by first names, rather than mom and dad. It just doesn't sit well in my brain.😄
Vickie wrote: "I'm enjoying it so far, but I have to say, it's bothering me the way these family members are addressing each other by first names, rather than mom and dad. It just doesn't sit well in my brain.😄"Totally agree Vickie!
I started it last night and I'm enjoying this strange plot so far.
Her kids and granddaughter calling her Big Barbara makes it even more weird and twisted. hahaha!
Boy, this is one heck of a slow burn. I keep waiting for something significant and creepy to happen, lol.
Just got to the beginning of Chapter 6.This is definitely a slow burn, definitely agree Vickie! I’m okay with that as long as it delivers in the end.
Anyone else think that Luker and India have a weird father/daughter relationship?! It almost feels like (view spoiler)
Terry wrote: "It is definitely a slow burn."I’m getting that. I’m loving the weird family dynamics too!
Marie Helene wrote: "One book to finish, and I will join you buddies tomorrow 😃"Great!! I'm glad you can join us this week. :D
Ended up finishing this one. It was good, and I enjoyed it, but it didn't wow me. The author does a great job with the setting, I liked that the most. The characters were just okay for me, though, and I didn't fall in love with any of them. Hope everyone else is enjoying it so far!
I just asked Vickie to link me. I forgot the date. I’ll try to read it. It’s due back at library. I’ve got things going on and I’m trying too get physical books read

I’m about halfway through and looking forward to seeing how this whole plot plays out!
Jen wrote: "I'm starting this tomorrow!"Glad you can join Jen! I’ve loved this so far.
It’s a slow burn in the beginning and then things just start getting really weird and creepy.
Just finished and I liked it. I struggled a little with the fact that I really couldn't attach myself to any of the characters. I thought India and Luker had a bizarre father/daughter relationship. But I liked the slow burn, the atmosphere, and just this sense of dread that I kept having while reading it.

I loved the sense of dread as well, especially when we got about half way through. Everything seemed to ramp up.
A great piece of literature. The slow burn is important - it's not overwrought - and the supernaturanal elements are wonderfully credible.
I just went looking to see if the group had done a read on this one. It’s been on my list forever. I just ordered it from Valancourt - it’s sort of hard to find. If anyone in the thread didn’t get to it yet, I’d be up for a buddy read!

I really loved this one and looking forward to seeing what you think about it!
