May | 2 comments All the characters belong to the same fictional anthropomorphic species of animal. They live in a forest and are small and brown with a darker mane and a tail. Main character is different- has alonger mane or tail? -then he finds a female friend who braids his hair. The animals and/or main character are called Tillififf or something similar. I read this in the 90s and original language is probably English, French, or Italian.

Mai | 1280 comments Searching Tillififf on Google images this came up:
https://www.google.com/search?q=Tilli...

Does that creature look familiar? If so searching a bit more it seems to be a book by two Swedish or Norwegian authors (original title "Tillififf og halen" by Hands and Christina Hægerstrøm). Maybe it was a translation of this book?

It seems to have been published in French by Casterman in 1983. See here: https://e-changes.cholet.fr/Default/d...

On Google translate it recognized the language as Norwegian but in this French page it says that the book was translated from Swedish so unsure of where the authors are from! There also seems to be some sort of illustrated album so I'm not sure if the link is for the book. In any case if it's this one at least you have the authors' names!

May, please add some more details - e.g., plot details - to your topic header. Lots of children's books are about being different so we need more info up there.
