While I enjoyed the series and the characters overall, I have problems with Leigh's writing style. I think she has too many inconsistencies in her writing - even here the resolution comes out of the blue with no foundation. There is absolutely no foreshadowing that would allow the reader to follow the clues to Stephen and Kim's culpability.
The police procedural elements are also weak. Its not too bad because Lance is a PI, not a cop, but there is a decided lack of sufficient research on Leigh's part.
I thought the procedurals were stronger in this story than the others, which made it more interesting. It was actually Jenny Kruger who found the opening to the Holgersens.
I enjoyed the series, plot weaknesses and all, and the audio version certainly made it a better reading experience. I was satisfied with the ending, too.

Lauren, I see what you mean by the author not giving us enough foreshadowing to allow the reader to follow the clues. That was probably the weakest element to the last couple of books.
It was nice to have a complete ending to the series and not have it go on and on.
I really thought they'd reached the end when Sharp found Olivia as a mate.
What's nice is that they created their own patchwork version of family. Sharp had no one but now he's connected to both Lance & Morgan as well as Olivia's family. Poor Gianna had no one and now she's a member of the Dane-Kruger family. And Jenny, Lance's mother, has found purpose in her protected world. It's unconventional but life is a lot like this these days.
