Really depends on the person, how old they are, and what they usually like to read or watch. What I'd recommend to a teenage girl who usually reads contemporary YA romance really differs a lot to what I'd recommend to an old professor of literature, or to someone who usually reads murder mysteries, etc. Someone who loves action movies and fast plots is going to appreciate other books than someone who prefers indepth character studies and poetry.

The genre is so huge and very diverse, encompassing so many kinds of books, there's something for everyone.
