What is the setting of your most recently read book (time and place)? Would you want to live there? Why or why not?

The Deadly Mystery of the Missing Diamonds (A Dizzy Heights Mystery #1) by T.E. Kinsey

The book I most recently finished was a mystery set in London in 1925. It was about a group of jazz musicians who get involved in a case of missing diamonds and murder. I think it would be really cool to live in London but I'm not sure if I would like to live in 1925. The world was so different then and it was right between two devastating world wars. There were a lot fewer comforts of life then, too. Some of the characters in my book have outhouses, even though they live in a city.

Avaree The book I most recently finished was "Anne of the Island". It's the 3rd book to Anne of Green Gables. I think I would really enjoy living in Avonlea. Especially during the time it was set. I can just imagine wearing beautiful corsets and ball gowns. Although if I was born in that time period I think I would miss leggings.

message 4: by Kaleo (new)

Kaleo The setting in my book is in a house because there is a snow blizzard outside. I would NOT want to live here because their house must be very cold.

Jude Half Baked Alaska
A book I read pretty recently was Half-Baked Alaska. It was a book with some real information but as some funny made up information. There also was some comics as illustrations that I really liked. Of course it was about Alaska and of course I love living in Alaska. Although the book was from 50 years ago but I would still love to live in Alaska in the 70's.

message 6: by Dylan (new)

Dylan Heim The most recent book I read was the diary of a wimpy kid meltdown book. It doesn't say too much about the time but basing it off of the electronics and things in the book I would think it's in the present. It takes place in the town of Plainview and I think it would be cool to live there. It has a school with crazy things always going on and they have some crazy adventures. It would be iconic to spend one day there.

message 8: by Jamin (new)

Jamin Fowler (jamin123) My book didn't really give a specific setting so I'll just describe it. The place is warm and tropical and has sandy beaches. I would want to live there

message 9: by Danica (new)

Danica Zinza I'm reading Facing the Dawn, and there is a women names Mara Jacobs, and it doesn't exactly say much about where she lives but she lives in a town with an unforgiving and unrewarding job. Her husband is in Africa building wells and it eight time zones different from her. She is struggling a lot. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

message 10: by KJ (new)

KJ The book that I have read recently was weird but true sports and it just had some wacky facts about sports like football, running, hockey, etc.

message 11: by Shea (new)

Shea The book is about dragons and right now they are in the rainforest. I would want to go there but only if I could be a dragon too, otherwise I'd probably get eaten.

message 12: by Abby (new)

Abby The book I most recently read was The land of stories and the setting is at rapunzel's castle, I would not want to live there because I could never get down mt hair is not that long. and It seems like a weird place to live. Its also very little space to move around.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

The book I'm reading right now is in the future, its called morning star and its the third book in the red rising series, the setting is in the future when we have colonized multiple planets and have spaceships and advanced weapons and all that stuff, and as sucky as the world is right now i would 100% prefer this to that world. People are also organized into colors, like gold, silver, red, green, stuff like that, and they all specialize in something different. Morning Star

message 14: by Annabelle (new)

Annabelle The book I read recently was Mrs. Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children. It mostly took place on September 3, 1940, in Cairnholm, Wales, which was a time loop. I don't think I would like to have lived there, because in the story that was the day before the bombing from the war happened.

message 15: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth A Wrinkle in Time

The book that I recently read was A Wrinkle in Time. I would not want to be in the setting of the book. The book took place on a different planet. I would rather be at my warm comfy house than stranded on another planet.

message 16: by Maddie (new)

Maddie The last book I read was "the remarried empress" and I would enjoy being there in the moment it left off on because the empress just confronted the emperor about his affair and the 2nd lady already having a child and being a slave and I can't wait for the next chapter to come out to see if they get that gold digger out of the castle The Remarried Empress

message 17: by Emma (new)

Emma I just recently finished the first Percy Jackson book, and now I am reading a book “Little Fires Everywhere.” I haven’t read much of it yet, I just started it, so I can’t say much of what’s happening, but in the very first chapter someone’s house burns down with someone inside.. super fun. :)

message 18: by Alice (new)

Alice The last book I read was The Cellar. It's about this guy who kidnaps teenage girls and renames them as flowers. He doesn't torture them but he takes care of them. The setting takes place in a surprisingly clean house. I still wouldn't want to live there because the guy in the story is creepy and if you try to stand up to him he would hurt you.

message 19: by Lacey (last edited Mar 19, 2021 12:07PM) (new)

Lacey Guts

The last book I read was Guts. It's a true story about this girl who basically becomes afraid of throwing up, and the book talks about how she started coping. I like this book a lot because it's told from the perspective of this fourth-grade girl, and it's a graphic novel too. This book is set in a pretty average town, with a regular school, and it puts this girl and her family in a small apartment. I guess I would be okay living there, the only downside would be that I'd have to share a room with my sister, and there's only one bathroom in their apartment.

message 20: by Sophia (new)

Sophia The book that I recently read was "The Mysterious Affairs at Styles" by Agatha Christie's it's about a murder that killed an old women. The theme seems like its back in the day, it doesn't seem that bright it always seems cloudy there to me. Also the house is very creepy because where she died they bordered all the doors and windows to the lady's room that died. I just wouldn't want to live there it's too dark there creepy and the person that killed her shocked me that another reason why.

Me too! But what book is it, Jamin?

message 22: by Nate (new)

Nate The book that I am reading is called "Golden Mirages". It is a compilation of old stories from the deserts in the Southwest United States. The setting is in the southern California and Nevada area, near Death Valley. I have been around there myself, and it can be very inhospitable. I think if you were prepared well enough, it might be fun to live out there and explore. Golden Mirages by Philip A. Bailey Golden Mirages

A Wrinkle in Time is one of my favorite books ever. I'm not sure I would want to live on another planet, but what about the Murry's cozy house?

message 30: by Keinan (last edited Mar 19, 2021 04:28PM) (new)

Keinan The story I finished reading was the light princess this takes place in medieval times. The light princess isn't shining but in fact, is cursed to not have her own gravity. This story was by George MacDonald. The Light Princess

message 31: by Mallory (new)

Mallory Harris (malloryharris) The Giver (The Giver, #1) by Lois Lowry

The book I most recently finished was The Giver. I would not want to live where the book is set because it's in a town where everything is perfect and plain. I don't like where the book was set because I don't like to have everything perfect and I like things unique. The book doesn't say what time it's placed and they just say they live in a small community.

That's a great story! I'm a big fan of George MacDonald. 🙂 Would you want to live in medieval times?

message 34: by Bella (new)

Bella the human The most recent book I've read was "Only the Good Spy Young." It's about a girl who goes to a spy school called Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women. These people from a secret organization called "The Circle of Cavan" want to kidnap her for some reason. She doesn't know why yet. She goes on missions to figure out what's going on. Only the Good Spy Young (Gallagher Girls, #4) by Ally Carter

message 35: by Bella (new)

Bella the human It takes place at the school most of the time except when she goes on missions. It takes place in the modern day. I would love to live there and learn how to be a spy.

message 36: by Abri (new)

Abri Nicole The setting of the manga I am reading right now (Black Butler) is a palace-type victorian style building called the Phantomhive Manor. The time is set in the second half of the 19th Century. 1888-1889. I would not want to live there because I am afraid if I say or do something hurtful to the price his butler will put me in the oven. Black Butler, Vol. 1🤪

message 37: by baylee (new)

baylee I just finished re-reading the Land of Stories book 1! The setting is in a Fairy Tale world, which the main characters fall into through a book. I would love to live there, but it has It's downsides. The upsides are that it is beautiful, and you can meet all the Fairy Tale characters. The downside, is that there are also the Fairy Tale villains, and troll, goblins, etc. That could make things more dangerous.

message 38: by Nicholas (new)

Nicholas Miller The book I read was t The Last Kids on Earth and the Skeleton Road. The setting was Wakefield.

message 39: by Ash (new)

Ash I read Harry Potter and the sorcerers stone because I want to read the classic Harry Potter series. I honestly thought the book was drawn out at some places but I would give it a sweet 7/10.

message 40: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid The last book I read was Dark Life. It's a Sci-fi sort of fantasy and it's set in the ocean off the East Coast of the US. I think it'd be sweet to live there because I could swim around and I might get a dark gift. A downside is that they have to do a ton of chores and other boring stuff.

Dark Life

message 42: by Tommy (new)

Tommy The most recent book I read I believe was lord of the flies. The setting of this book was a jungle island in the middle of the ocean in the year 1950. I would under no circumstance want to live in this setting because it's an island far from any civilization. Also, if the same characters from the book were also with me, I would be constantly fearing for my life

message 43: by Liam (new)

Liam | 6 comments The most recent book that I have read was Calvin and Hobbes Vol. 1. The setting of it was the late 1980s. I would want to live there because it seems very fun.
