YA about girl in hiding bc dad commited crime, applying for college and a scholarship

I read this book around 2010-2015 probably, it was about a girl and her mom who had fled their city because her father had commit some kind of crime involving stealing computers (I think?) and they were afraid the company or someone would retaliate. It's her senior year so she is deciding to apply to colleges and for scholarships and things.

SPOILERS AHEAD

She applies for a specific scholarship that she thinks is a memorial scholarship for a girl who used to go to school at her school. She does some digging though and eventually finds out that the girl isn't dead but got schizophrenia. When writing the essay for the scholarship, she accidentally submitted a really angry letter she wrote to her father but wasn't planning on sending. Eventually she goes on a college tour that's either in the same town as or close to where her dad was in prison, and she visits him.
