This is a moderator’s choice selection. Discussion starts April 1. I’ve divided it into 4 weeks. We can adjust as may be needed.

Week 1 - Part 1, Section 1 to Part 1, Section 12
Week 2 - Part 2
Week 3 - Part 3, Section 1 to Part 3, Section 6
Week 4 - To Conclusion

I have two copies of this book. One is inscribed 1890 or 1896 (hard to read the last digit) and published by Collier. The other is a Dover Press. Both editions use Roman numerals. I’ve translated it in Arabic numbers

He’s a favorite of mine.

Brian E Reynolds | 926 comments I've marked that each week's discussion will begin on Thursday's April 1, 8, 15 and 22. Is that correct? I understand that we will also "adjust as needed." I just like to mark something on my calendar, especially when I have several weekly discussions going on as here, with the Bostonians too.
Basil looks to be shorter than the other two Collins I've read, The Moonstone and Woman in White. Also, as this book appears to be mainly a first person narrator, I am curious to see how Collins operates without switching narrators so often.

That is correct. Would it be better to start on a Saturday?

I think it will be interesting to try it on Thursday, especially as the Bostonians will be on Sunday. Heck, since semi-retiring, the weekdays and weekends start geting so alike I have to check the calendar to orient myself when I get up. Thank God Monday is garbage day so I have to be aware when it's a Monday to take the bins out.
The best day is whatever day is most convenient for the moderator to be ready to post the discussion start.

Lol. I’m retired and have been sequestered at home for the last year. My goal each morning upon waking is to figure out what day of the week it is. My time is usually fairly flexible. I do have some health issues that sometimes get in my way,

I am the same - since retirement and with all the in-person events canceled, the day doesn't matter.

Just a quick note. Wednesday I get my second covid vaccine. Hopefully I won’t have a reaction, but just letting you know in case my post is late next week.

I was expecting some symptoms since several people I know did, (nothing serious) but I had none. Now I just have to wait one more week to be "safe".

That's great news. Then I'll be able to get closer than 6 feet from the computer screen when I read your posts.
