Chapters 1-4

(view spoiler)[As a left-handed person, I take offence to the term 'cack-handed'. Nahh all jokes aside, this book is spooky man! This is middle grade/young adult? It's dark man.. And I love it!

The test that the Spook made Tom do was creepy. There is no way, at my big age of 25, that I would be able to stay in a haunted house by myself and then creep down into a dark dank cellar after hearing all those creepy sounds at midnight. So kudos to Tom and those other apprentices.

This book kinda reminds me of Mort and Scythe and I really like it so far. Excited to see more spooky stuff and see what Tom's training will be.

Also, I had to laugh when they see the old priest and he makes an exaggerated cross sign and the Spook is like ugh, that's just my brother. I don't know why, but I found that so funny! (hide spoiler)]

Tom use your common sense and stay away from the witch in the garden! Unless this is a test from the Spook! In that case, definitely stay away!! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I told you! I told you Thomas, don't trust Alice! All of that could have been avoided but I guess it's great on-the-job training and work experience. Slightly worried about the fact that Mother Malkin might not actually be dead and she could possess someone else's body and sneak up on them. (view spoiler)[Wow what a book! Read this in one sitting and I loved every minute of it! The story is so dark and creepy yet kinda enchanting. I really grew to love Tom and Alice, and their friendship is so cute. I have a feeling it will develop over the series and I'm excited to continue (note to Maddie: I definitely have to continue haha).

Yeah it's middle-grade! I know someone who read it when they were 11 for an English class. It still really creeps me out holy damn.

I couldn't stay in that house either, even reading it now I got shivers!
