The story opens with a boy named Michael being freed by a little girl named Bella. After the raid on Mirabelle’s house and we meet Bella, did you begin to get a clearer picture of who Michael might have been and his connection to the Sanchezes?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 3009 comments It was obvious that the kid was being held for a serious reason. The possibilities were many but I thought it was because he had betrayed the Sanchezes or had something they wanted really badly.

Robin (robinmy) | 2485 comments I wasn't sure why Michael had been held against his will. I just knew he had to get out of there and was lucky that Bella released him.

This is when I knew the Sanchez’s were up to something bigger. Michael spoke of other boys so I knew they had a bigger enterprises. And, why would they be so doggedly determined to find a 13-year old boy? This pointed me in the right direction.

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments It was obvious at this point that he had been a prisoner and that is was drug related, but I did not connect it to drug trafficking.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3548 comments My first thought was the boys were used to slip in to places that men couldn't. I thought that Michael did something against the Sanchez gang, but I didn't know what. However, once Bella mentioned "the bad place" my thought went to human trafficking. It seems to be a theme in the books I'm reading lately.
