mediocre I think they just know. Maybe they do not know exactly how you will die, they just know that most days you are not going to die. Like they would have called the person who worked at the simulation center if she were to jump off the roof. But she didn't, and that is why she did not get a call.

Ellie I think it may have something to do with paranoia in a sense, maybe they don't know for certain that they are going to die but the fact they have been told makes them more conscious of their mortality and therefore end up facing death as a result.

Abby Kenyon Maybe it's like in the new Loki series on disney+ (If anyone's seen it) where there's pretty much an overlord ruling time and they just get told

sarah bouchmal I think the CEO of Death-Cast just randomly picks some people all over the globe, then sends a group of murderers to make sure they die before midnight.

Jenny I think there are some people that work there that can see when somone is going to die. Like a mind gift.

Clara Costa the way I imagined it while I was reading the book was that some external force told them, like aliens or something. I think rufus even brought this up in the book

Görkem It has to be related to anything spiritual or the world is something like a simulation. I don't think there are some people who go after others and kill them because *SPOILER* they both died at the end without any human interaction.
