I could be late to the party on this one, but if not, I thought I'd bring a recent discovery to everyone's attention.

If you sell books on Amazon, you'll know we get paid by wire, when your royalties equal $100 (approximately, it varies) of the currency from each different Amazon platform. While this isn’t a big deal from Amazon US or UK, New Zealand authors can wait a long time to see earnings from other countries.

I just received my first payment from Amazon India. It only took eight years to get enough funds for the payment to go through. Obviously, my books are never going to sell well in countries where English is a second language or not spoken by large numbers of people.

However, there's a way to get paid every month, from every Amazon platform, regardless of your earnings.

Apologies if this sounds like an advertorial. It's not. I don't get a thing out of this personally, other than the joy of knowing that my fellow Kiwi authors are going to get paid and not have to wait. We wait long enough to receive royalties as it is.

The way to do it is to set up a Payoneer account. Payoneer are global money brokers and they provide you with a virtual bank account. If any of you use Patreon, you’ll know about Payoneer and how it works.

Once you have setup your account, go to the top menu. Click Receive, then Global Payment Service. This shows you your virtual bank account details.

Use these details to set up a new bank account to receive royalty payments in your KDP account. Choose the country for your bank account as United States and enter the bank account information from the Payoneer page. That’s it. Now, you’ll get paid every month from every platform regardless of your earnings.

You can connect Payoneer to a New Zealand bank account to make withdrawls. Once you have $100 USD in your account you can withdraw it. It doesn’t take long to build up those funds when you’re collecting all your royalties from all platforms every month.

Yes, of course there’s a catch. Payoneer take 2% of the funds transferred. Personally, I figure that’s better than waiting years to receive payments. I've set myself up with Payoneer and have received payments, so I can confirm it works.

I hope that’s of interest. Happy to discuss if people want to know more.
