I am curious to see how the lakeside community will grow and how the CR will fare. Hope has her drawings, Meg has her cards. there is hope that they will find a way to avoid cutting.
Also, the presence of the elder may change things for both humans and our regular cast of Others.

(view spoiler)[Thasia has changed and all of this because humans got greedy. Humans had more than enough to survive, but the greed and jealousy sown by the HFL has cost everyone tremendously, not only to those who were destroyed but also to those who survived, because the survivors are the once who will have to keep living with the repurcussions of a few foolish and greedy individuals.

I loved this book. The previous book was slower and was mainly setting the background for this one. This one was far better.

I love the amusing scenes that the author introduces every now and then.

I suspect the next book will focus more on the elders. It would be interesting learn about them.
I also suspect we will see Meg & Simon's relationship go to another level. It might not be that bad from the looks of it. But I wonder if it will work out. (hide spoiler)]

I am just finishing chapter 27- (view spoiler)[ Jesse is playing a super important role between the Others, the terra indigene, and the intuits. I have grown to like her... even though she seem quite pushy.

I agree about what everyone said for Chapter 22 spoiler, but it doesn't seem that it is making as much difference as I thought it would. I expected more of a human police assault and apprehension of HFL leaders. Seems that the others are currently being fairly passive. Nicholas Scratch has just ordered phase 3 and I expect that to change in the next few pages. So intense!! (hide spoiler)]

Humans have actually done what they wanted to do... ironically. They have breached the buffer between themselves and the true wild country. I just finished.. (view spoiler)[ I don't know that I liked the Elders having a personality... I wasn't expecting it and it seemed a bit of a stretch to have yet another horrific predator turn amused by Meg. You know that Eburus was one thing. I don't know, it just felt wrong.

On the other hand, I liked the last chapter with the skinny dipping.

OH, I forgot to mention that it amused me greatly to picture Simon say, "I do not have pussy feet." (hide spoiler)]

Yeah, I found the first third kind of confusing and slow but I really liked the the middle and the end.

So far so good (40% in chapter 17), things are getting crazy in this one.

Well, did finished this one a couple of days ago...

I did think it was a bit repetitive at the beginning, just the recap from the previous book we normally used to, (it's always nice to have some, but I did think it was a bit too much, we all now the feelings behind Meg, Simon, etc).
Regarding the rest of the book this one I did think it was with a little more action, more development, lets see how they will survive with the new rules and what comes next.
Did really enjoyed this one, simple, easy to read and enjoyable.
