Rhonda (rhondaal) | 41 comments When this book was originally released, the author did not group it as a series and a Librarian made a note on the books back in 2019/2020 to not combine into a series. The author has since created a series name with four books in the series and they are grouped as such on Amazon. My question is, would it now be okay for me to override a previous librarian and create the series? The librarian does not accept messages, so I could not communicate with them.

Rhonda (rhondaal) | 41 comments I was hoping someone could assist me with my question.

Hint: Links (to all the books) are really helpful & often get you faster assistance!

To be honest I am a bit puzzled how a group of books could not be a series in 2019 & now are!

What makes these books a series? I looked on Amazon & they are set at the same university. Do they have characters or an overarching storyline in common?

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 2352 comments #4 The author says this is a complete standalone.

If there are characters in common even if it is a standalone this could still be a series though.

Rhonda (rhondaal) | 41 comments The male characters are football players at the same university many of the characters overlap books and also attend the same university. Originally the author didn't have them linked up as a series on Amazon, but after she released the fourth book, she named the series and connected them on Amazon. The librarian that made the notation on some of the books, made the note 1-2 years ago before the author connected the books as a series. I'm glad to create the series. I just want to make sure I won't get any backlash for doing so.

Emily | 17644 comments It will be fine to go ahead and create the series and remove the notes in this case.

The author originally contacted me about the original series that she did NOT create. Let me message her and ask her about this.

I should be receiving messages--I haven't changed anything on my profile. Sorry you couldn't reach me.

Rhonda (rhondaal) | 41 comments Update!! I reached out to the author directly, and she has given me permission to create the series and connect the books.

I've already contacted her and she's given her permission. The series has been created.

P.S. I just tried again and it say "Sorry, this person isn't accepting messages".

lethe | 16368 comments It is not up to the author to give permission to create a series on Goodreads. If there are connecting characters and/or it is set in the same universe, it is a series according to Goodreads policy.

lethe | 16368 comments I get the same message, Nay: " Sorry, this person isn't accepting messages. "

Nay (4ukcats) | 532 comments Well, huh. I don't know what happened. Somehow my settings changed to receiving messages from "friends only," which is weird because I just had a non-friend send a message to me about a listopia list a few days ago.

Thanks for letting me know. I fixed it.

Thank you for reiterating that. This was not the first time I've seen a series removed because the author didn't want the books connected when they were obviously connected. Personally I like to reach out to the author to explain that I'd like to connect their books as a series and if they had a name they would like to use for their series. Just about every author has been more than accommodating.

Thank you everyone for your comments, assistance, and guidance!!!
