I loved these guys! Hurt comfort sometimes delves too much into the hurt and not enough on the comfort but this had a good balance of both. Both men had difficult past but they healed each other. There’s some action but mostly it was focused on their relationship. I’m looking forward to Aiden and Jesse.

There’s one or two people in my team who read the occasional M/M - not much book discussion, though.

I know! I've got KellyJo on my Regular Bingo Team, but that's the quietest t..."
Same, I'm going to miss this team sooo much! It has been the best. We definitely need to find some challenges to do together. AMMP and Game Night usually have quite a few challenges that let you sign up a whole team, I'll keep an eye.
I'm on Team Rob Anybody for TT and everyone seems really lovely, but yeah, without any other mm reader you can't join the book discussions.

Task 26 - 86. Read at least 1500 pages in books with a hat on the cover.

Review: A pretty good enemies to lovers contemporary romance. Very well drawn characters, including the secondary cast, and a well developed romance made it an enjoyable read. I just wished there was a little more conflict, a little more of an emotional punch. But I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys an easy, straight up romance.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ngaio Marsh is so underrated - I honestly prefer her books to Christie's. Last Ditch is one of the last Roderick Alleyn mysteries (#29 or #32) and will never be a favorite, but it's very good. It's always odd when a Golden Age Mystery writer is still writing a Golden Age Mystery in the 1960s, 1970s, and even 1980s, but it still works. It's definitely more meaningful if you've read at least some of the other books (familiar characters, insider references).

!! PLEASE TAKE NOTE! ‼️
With the challenge ending on Tuesday, May 11th, there will a minor change to the last task. Beginning on Sunday, May 9th, when teams post their completions and get a new task, they will all get the same task. For this task, instead of just completing it, you will continue reading to add to the total number of books read for your team. There will be no passes for the last task and to complete it, every team member must complete a book for the task and contribute to the overall book count. So, the task is considered ‘completed’ when every team member has read one book for the task, but you can continue reading in order to increase your overall book count for the task in case that is needed for a tie breaker. In the event that two or more teams are tied based on the number of tasks completed, the team with the highest book count will win The Amazing Race Team Challenge!
**Remember if your completion posts are incomplete or have the wrong page count, your books will not count. So help each other out by checking the posts!**
‼️ If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. ‼️

This one is difficult for me to rate, I like the uniqueness of the characters and story but things are slow to start and develop. Maybe I just was not in the mood for this one and may have liked listening to it better.

Task 27 - 95. As a team, select an animal. Read 8 books tagged with that animal.
As a team select an animal, real or mythical, and read 8 books that are tagged with the selected animal. Qualification for this task comes from tags only. Please include a link to the top shelves page with the qualifying tag along with the top shelves page number and how many tags the book has. This extra information if extremely helpful if the link is broken or the tag moves - and both happen frequently!

ETA - And this challenge should run again in the fall. 😊

Trick for quick searching:
Go to the tags page
Click on the number next to a tag: ex. m-m 31 people
The url will now show: https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/users...
Replace m-m with dog or dogs (will only return exact matches)

When I have more time, I may come up with a shorter third choice. Not a lot of reading time today, but I'm off tomorrow....

It's a great series, light and funny with great characters. That was my favorite too. 😁

Sweet with a bit of danger. I really liked the characters and Bat. I’ve always liked Papillons. Very low heat but a nice light read.

Review: A nice, easy read but not much happened. I liked the historical setting and the animals, especially when Tobin started naming the sheep, but not a fan of insta love.

Sad but hea
While the animals were cute, it starts very sad and wasn’t an easy read for me. I felt for Jeremy and his difficulties. I was glad he and Cliff reconnected and I liked seeing their relationship grow. Trigger warning: suicidal mc.

This was a nice, not particularly fraught, little romance and mystery with a gorgeous Papillon (named Batshit) center stage. I wasn't sure how much I'd like it, given that I usually avoid books with lawyers, but it turned out to be rather charming. I'll definitely read the next book - in fact I'd go ahead and read it now, except that it's not tagged Dogs, lol.

When I purchased this book on some kind of deal a while back, I didn't notice that it was the second in a series. I have to admit that while reading out of order drives me a bit crazy, it turned out not to be much of a problem - Lane does a very good job of explaining what's going on. Still, the book didn't do much for me. I enjoyed the romance and liked the groups of friends and chosen family around the two MCs, but, with a few exceptions, I wasn't all that interested in the magic. I won't make any great effort to read the first book, or any others as they come out.

I have had this book for awhile in my TBR pile, and really don't know why I did not read it sooner. Very good read with real issues and problems people have to deal with. Liked how both characters are not perfect and they have to work together and talk to make things work.

This was pleasant reading. Nothing earth-shattering, just nice people, a cute kid, a therapy dog, and a HEA. Sometimes, that's all you really want.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm not feeling great and probably won't be around as much, but hopefully will be able to read at least one book for our last task.

Sweet and romantic with an adorable dog and a quirky landlady. I really liked the premise of a lost dog connecting them. The setting was nice and it just made me feel happy.

Task 28 - LAST TASK - Read a book with a 9 in the initial publication date.
Books selected for this task need to have a 9 in the initial publication date - date or year, do not convert month to a number. For example, an initial publication date of November 19, 2020 or May 15, 2019 would work, but September 5, 2020 would not. Make sure you use the initial publication date for this task. If there is a date listed at the top of the editions page use it, otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format. Please include the initial publication date in your completion posts.
There is no need to post completion of this task in the Q&A thread, I will be checking all the team threads at the end of the challenge. 😊

ETA: I may just give up on M/M and go for short books written before 2000. It's not like I don't have plenty around the house....

Check out https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/... for more challenges. I haven't done any of their team one recently though.
Most randomly assign teams so you can't stack your team but if you find one you can, let me know!!
I'm on Team Lord Vetinari. They seem nice but none of the others read mm so I don't have much in common. It's not as much fun as this was.
My Bingo team is quiet too...
