Alice Winters certainly has a specific style. While I enjoy the rest of the plot of her stories the constant snark gets to be a little much.

Task 21 - 91. Add up the years of the teammates' births and each teammate reads a book with that minimum number of pages. - 89 (Filipa) + 79 (KellyJo) + 78 (Teresa) + 68 (Truitt) = 314

This book reminded me so much of B.L. Brunnemer Veiled Diaries Series. Which is a series I love. I really enjoyed this book for the slowly developing relationships and how everyone has there own issues and personalities. Only draw back for me is the high school setting. Looking forward to next book.

Yeah, at the beginning of the book I was laughing out loud, by the end I was getting a little tired. But definitely an author to keep in mind when you need something floofy (like Rowan's tail 😂)

Task 22 - 80. Read 4 books initially published in different decades.
For this task make sure you use the initial publication date. If there is a date listed at the top of the editions page use it, otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the decade you are reading from in your completion posts.

1990s - KellyJo | Dream Warrior: His Savage Kiss (1993)
2000s - Truitt | The Color of Magic (2005)
2010s - Teresa | Sweet Nothings (2018)
2020s - Filipa | The Muffin Man (2021)

Sweet Nothings by Macy Blake

Qualifies: Published September 25th 2018 (my decade was 2010)
⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was a great look at how Henry’s family started. I liked getting to know Vaughn and Sam and the rest of the pack. Can be read before or after the Chosen One series books.

Review: Maybe because I had high expectations, or maybe because I'm just not ready yet to read a book set during the pandemic, but I was disappointed. One of my favorite authors, and there was nothing particularly wrong with the book, it just didn't work for me for some reason.

Dream Warrior: His Savage Kiss by Bobbi Smith

This book did not work for me. Very much old school book with characters that behave so stupidly they are hard to believe as real. Bobbi Smith use to be one of my favorite authors when I first started reading romance in early 2000's, Romance books have sure come a long way in 20 years.

The Color of Magic by Terry Pratchett

287 pages per GR, see link above
How it qualifies: originally published 24 November 1983

Everyone says the first two Discworld novels aren't very good and should be skipped by new readers in favor of something from further along in the series. In truth, The Color of Magic wasn't bad - it was just a bit of a slog in places. Fortunately, I've already read one of the later books and really enjoyed it. I'll keep going.

Teresa (2010s) https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Filipa (2020s) https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
KellyJo (1990s) https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Truitt (1980s) https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Sorry KellyJo, that my goof meant that you got stuck reading something from the 90s....

I've always been surprised no one has gone back and read a classic or something like that for this task, but everyone always tries to stick as close to current as possible. 🤷🏻♀️

Task 23 - 68. Read a minimum of 1200 pages in books with one word titles.
Books selected for this task need to have one word titles, articles and exclamations included. So books such as NautiCal would work, but books like The Thief would not. Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count.

So we have 295 + 496 + 359 = 1150. Tru you can pick a book as short as you want.

Thanks - that's probably a good thing!

Thanks for letting me take the short straw!

This is hard to rate.
I almost couldn't finish this, it got so bleak and dark. It has been a while since I read the first two and didn't remember them well so was a little lost in places. I recommend reading this immediately after the others. The descriptions were good and I was immersed in the story. There is a lot of action and danger with little time to catch your breath before the next bad thing happens. Though it ends in a much better place than I thought it would, there is a sadness to it.

At least that ended well, but yeah, while I don't mind (and actually like) a little dark in my books, I feel like nowadays if we want bleak and sad we can just read the news. Books are supposed to be escapism, at least for me.
Teresa wrote: "Also the guy on the cover is nothing like the main character other than red hair. Seb is dark skinned with tattoos and extremely long tightly curled rust red hair that he keeps in a braid."
I hate when they do this. Remember

I know, right??

So this is probably more like a 3.5 star book, because it's uneven - parts of it I really enjoy, others feel forced. Oh well - I really like Tracy, and that's enough.

Review: A really good conclusion to the trilogy. Rory and Arthur have become one of my favorite couples. A little sad the series is over but fingers crossed for a spin off.

Love this series. This one has a very unique mystery and wedding planning going on. Really enjoying the changing dynamics between all characters. Everyone is changing and growing into themselves.

Task 24 - 88. Read 6 books with a boat, plane, car or motorcycle on the cover, teams decide which.
As a team decide which cover you are going to use, boat, plane, car or motorcycle. You can use any edition's cover to qualify for this task. Please include the qualifying cover along with your selected item in your completion posts in your completion posts.

Wow you go Teresa. :) I believe we picked car.

While I love paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi sometimes I need a sweet hurt comfort contemporary story to make me smile. This fit the bill perfectly. Nico was prickly but sweet at his heart. West was strong and capable. I loved them together and the whole Wilde family. While there were definitely feels, it wasn’t angsty.

I'm hoping to have mine finished by tonight at latest, but I'm struggling. The only thing I'm liking about the book so far is the dog. 😩

Sorry to hear that! I might be able to finish another. I looked closely and

How about this: if the team makes it to six books before I finish my first, feel free to go ahead and post the completion, giving me a pass for the task. As I recall, we each get one and given that we're almost done, I'm fine with using it. Otherwise, I'll post tonight when I'm finished. Sorry. :(

Review: This book was really funny, but at times the banter was a bit much. However, I really liked the characters and definitely want to know what's next for them.
