Joyce | 98 comments awww thank you all for the warm welcome!!! <3 and thanks for letting me join!!! you all are so sweet and I cannot wait to read the series with you all!!! :D

message 10: by Johanna (new)

Johanna (5886046-johanna) I'm fine with that :)

☆ alexandra ☆ | 268 comments Sounds great, I think that should be around 70 pages per day. If I did the math correctly! :)
And it's soon, we're starting tomorrow!!

message 12: by Joyce (new)

Joyce | 98 comments Awesome! so ch.7 a day! I'll be starting that soon! is it a reread or a first time read for you all?? :)

message 13: by Johanna (new)

Johanna (5886046-johanna) First time!

☆ alexandra ☆ | 268 comments I'm reading it for the first time as well! :)

message 15: by Johanna (new)

Johanna (5886046-johanna) I have finished 7 chapters now

☆ alexandra ☆ | 268 comments Anyways, I finished the chapters for today - and so far, I am enjoying it! The pages flew by super quickly. When I woke up from the reading trans, I was surprised to see that I was at the beginning of chapter 7 already, I thought it was like the second one!

The new characters seem...I think that the best way to describe them is interesting. They all have kinda this mystery surrounding them 'cause we don't know everything about their pasts yet. And I am excited to discover it!
Also, wonder what Percy is doing. It feels kinda strange to not have his POV, I was used to it so much with the books before. :D

What are your thoughts so far, guys? :))

message 17: by Johanna (new)

Johanna (5886046-johanna) The beginning was enjoyable read: I liked the action and couple of sentences made me even laugh. It's also really nice to meet old characters and the new ones are interesting. So many things we don't know!

I want to know what's going on, it's so strange that gods doesn't have contact with the camp anymore and Percy is gone. And how did Jason lost hist memories? We'll see

I felt for Piper because she thought Jason was her boyfriend and it wasn't true. Now she's alone again. I hope she would get friends. Leo has really unique talent. And hey! I was right: that dragon from the short-stories makes his appearance in this book!! I thought the cover looked like it would be the same machine :D

message 18: by Joyce (last edited Mar 10, 2021 09:28PM) (new)

Joyce | 98 comments sooo for all you first timers I hope you all enjoy it!!! <3 and I can't wait to see your reactions and theories!! :D

I finished ch.7 but will continue on with the additional 7ch. :) Percy is definitely the OG...but I love these characters as well! and honestly for me I have a soft spot for Leo xD Love how witty and sarcastic he is! All characters each have such interesting backgrounds story...I cannot wait for you guys who haven't read it to discover it! :D

message 19: by Joyce (new)

Joyce | 98 comments Also I’m curious how do you all feel about the multiple POVs??? I feel like this is what really differentiates itself from the PJO :p

message 20: by Johanna (new)

Johanna (5886046-johanna) I think it's interesting to have more POVs, because we learn about different characters more. And especially when there is so much secrets they have. We wouldn't know about them without different POVs. If you think about that we have now one characters who should betray. We know it and can't wait to see how it will end. And in PJO it could have been interesting to read from Nico's POV. But I'm fine with everything, I could have read this only from one POV as well.

Joyce | 98 comments Johanna wrote: "I think it's interesting to have more POVs, because we learn about different characters more. And especially when there is so much secrets they have. We wouldn't know about them without different P..."

exactly!!! I know some ppl find it confusing...but I love it! We get to know and appreciate the characters more <3 I'll admit sometimes I will favour one POV from another...but all are so good! And agreed! it would have been awesome to have had Nico's POV in the PJO!

☆ alexandra ☆ | 268 comments Heyy, sorry I haven't replied earlier, it was a busy day for me today. I'll reply to your messages and tell you my thoughts tomorrow. :)
Again, apologize, it's really late here, but I'll try my best to answer everything tomorrow!!

☆ alexandra ☆ | 268 comments Johanna wrote: "The beginning was enjoyable read: I liked the action and couple of sentences made me even laugh. It's also really nice to meet old characters and the new ones are interesting. So many things we don..."

Yeah, you were right! Now I'm actually glad I've read The Demigod Files, it turned out to be quite helpful! :D

☆ alexandra ☆ | 268 comments As what for the POVs-
I have this mix of feelings reading anything that has more main characters and the point of the view switches up between them. Authors love to end up the chapters on a cliffhanger and then give us another one of the POVs. That just gets me soo annoyed every time I read it.
I start the new chapter about the different character and find myself mad at the book for making me stop reading at the moment when it really got exciting.
Then I got used to the new POV and when I actually get involved in the story - the author does it again. And we usually get a new POV.
And this is how it goes with the whole book! :)

☆ alexandra ☆ | 268 comments But I actually like that we get a new outlook on the story. It is something new in the Rick Riordan books. Not something we've seen him do before. So it's quite refreshing actually.
But rn I would welcome Percy's point of the view 'cause I really wanna know what is he doing!!

☆ alexandra ☆ | 268 comments Also (view spoiler)

Johanna (5886046-johanna) I have read 14 chapters...

☆ alexandra ☆ | 268 comments Joyce wrote: "[spoilers removed]"

That's super cool!! I searched up your city and it honestly seems magical. It truly is beautiful! The hotel looks just like a castle. :)

☆ alexandra ☆ | 268 comments Joyce wrote: "☽ alexandra ☾ wrote: "But I actually like that we get a new outlook on the story. It is something new in the Rick Riordan books. Not something we've seen him do before. So it's quite refreshing act..."

Ahhh- I'm also excited about what's to come! :D
There is a lot that needs to be unrevealed. Some parts don't make sense just yet, but they surely will soon.

☆ alexandra ☆ | 268 comments And I guess The Demigod Files are not as important, I can picture myself reading this before reading those short stories. Put as a companion, it was nice and there definitely is some connection as we can see and Johanna pointed out!

☆ alexandra ☆ | 268 comments Johanna wrote: "I have read 14 chapters..."

Hold on...Now I'm confused about the chapters! We said 7 per day, right? So should we finish till chapter 21 for today or...?
'Cause, that's what I've read. Or am I in advance? 😅
Not trying to make a fuss, just wanna assure myself.
Maybe we could always say the number of chapters we should read for a certain day. That would make it easier, maybe...

message 36: by Joyce (new)

Joyce | 98 comments hahaha I was going to ask that! hope I didn't misunderstand that!
sooo I just finished ch.28 rn :)

Oh yes!! Now when you said it!! Of course: that car, haha. I'm interested mythology overall. And I'm from Scandinavia so I loved Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology :D :D Are you interested Scandinavian mythology? (This was question for both :D)

Johanna (5886046-johanna) Finished chapter 28

☆ alexandra ☆ | 268 comments Okay, I'm a little behind rn. But I'll try to catch up tomorrow. We should read till chapter 42, right?

☆ alexandra ☆ | 268 comments I adore Greek mythology. It is soo interesting. I love how the Greeks had a myth to explain everything. Like for example Hades and Persephone - like the whole changing season or constellations. That is really cool!
We are also currently learning about Rome and Greek culture at school, so it's amazing how it ties up with these books!

I guess I just love mythology overall. Even the Czech folklore is super interesting! So, I haven't read a lot about Norse Mythology but surely would like to get around to it more in the future. :)
