I'm confused. The 254 one is the one that shows up first on the list. It's the default when I search for the book and the first on the list when I click on All Editions. It's also the edition I read.

No, books can not be started until after the task is assigned.

Thanks Stacie - just woken up and rushed to get my iPad to post and you’d done it - yay!

Task 2 - 15. Read a minimum of 600 pages in books with an audio edition

Tilly and the Bookwanderers by Anna James
Pages: 400
Date: 3/20
Rating: 3 stars
How it fits: Tilly and the Bookwanderers
Review:
This book was really cute. Definitely a middle grade book but it reminded me of being a kid and wanting to go visit Anne of Green Gables or other books or have them come visit me. It was very fun and made me wish I could travel into some of my more *adult* books, haha. Definitely wish this one was around when I was a kid.

Task 2 - 15. Read a minimum of 600 pages in books with an audio edition
Book: Storm from the Shadows

So, I actually read the wrong book. I looked at the author's order of reading list wrong. It's confusing when there are 4 interconnected series! Luckily, it's a re-read for me, so I know what's already happened in the books I skipped. If I had realized it earlier I would have switched, because the other one would have fit into all the same challenges. But I was 100 pages in before I realized. Anyway, I digress. This was David Weber-in-need-of-an-editor. If you pick up one of his books and it's over 600 pages, it probably needed a better editor. But I still love reading them. No one can write a space battle like David Weber. And he can do a character sketch in a page that makes you actually sad when the character dies on the next page.

Task 2 - 15. Read a minimum of 600 pages in books with an audio edition

The Riot by Laura Wilson
Date Read: 3/23
Rating: 4*

How It Fits: The Riot
Review:
This was a surprisingly good read. Even though this thriller was set in 1950s London, this could just as easily been set in more modern setting. This was well written and held my interest throughout and the author did well to convey the complex issues surrounding the differences in class, gender and race. Definitely an author I will have to read more of.

Review: Wow - swept in from page one as Deka learns that she is a gilded one and also learns about utter cruelty, rejection and despair. Killed 9 times before she is rescued and taken off to be part of a special all girl elite fighting machine for the emperor of her lands. Once here she finds the love of her friends, and her male fighting partner and deception. What is taught to every person in her lands may not be the truth - but if it isn’t the truth then what is it. Can’t wait until the next book comes out.

Stacie has The Accidentals, which my library doesn't have. Or Duke I'd Like to F, which is 524 pages, so I wouldn't want to finish it before Monday, because Panem Game.
Louise has Winston Bros. #2 & 4, but not #3. So I would need to listen to #3 before I can do #4.
I'll probably go with Winston Bros, since I only have one audio planned for this week.

Was read by Laura 3rd March 2021 and she gave it 4★s

As is my norm, I read #3 for a challenge a couple of years back, there is very few series that I read in order

Review: Harems, reverse or otherwise, are not entirely my cup of tea - I have enough trouble with just one man I love in my life - not sure I could handle another 3! Was an odd situation one single mum on the run from poverty and sadness who ends up with 4 men in her life who are all willing to share her. Was a bit put off by the twin brothers sharing her bed at the same time - a bit ikky. Still all the characters concerned seemed happy with the situation so who am I to judge? Overall I enjoyed the story, there were some background issues for some of the MC and they weren’t instantly cured but certainly barriers were broken down. The two kids were adorable and all the men treated the kids well - all good dads.

Go for Rhythm, Chord & Malykhin! Mariana Zapata is the best!
I've finished the preliminary audio I needed to read before doing the next Winston Brothers, so I should have my book completed tomorrow. I want to finish my W book for The Great Brain Robbery tonight.

Review: I had a really hard time with this one. The transphobic and homophobic jokes really threw me for a loop and I found myself questioning the author's choices a lot. I can handle immature characters but this entire book really made me uncomfortable and wonder what happened to an author I otherwise usually enjoy.

Review:
I think this is my favorite Winston Brothers book so far. I absolutely loved the dynamic between Beau and Shelly. And I loved that there was never a scene where one needs to grovel to the other. There was just constant support, and some learning to lean on each other. I want more Shelly, for sure!

I honestly don't even remember any of this in the book. I usually try to ignore her relationship with her brother & his band and focus on Sacha. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it. :(

Just got back from my day trip to various wineries - hired a bus so none of us had to drive!
Heading for bed now but can check us in in the morning if Louise has finished 😀

You’re right, I misread the postings 🙂

Actually, you made me realize that I forgot to select the audio edition. Sometimes I just grab the default without looking. So I did change it. To the audio. :)

Beneath a Southern Sky by Deborah Raney

Review:
I really enjoyed this novel, I didn't read the synopsis, so I was completely thrown by the twist of Nate being held in Colombia. The struggles that each character went through was told well and definitely kept me reading until the end. I'm intrigued by the 2nd novel in the series which I may pick up.

Task 4 - 25. Read 4 books by one of the 2021 FACs.
Read a book written by one of 2021's FACs (found in the monthly challenge.) You may also read a book written by a pseudonym of the FACs.
Authors for 2021:
January - Jayne Ann Krentz
February - Jill Shalvis
March - Kristen Callihan
April - Eloisa James

I am going to have to get stuck into my reading because the challenges haven’t worked out this week and I am reading 4 books (including this one)

If it helps, I'm currently listening to a book that has a T title, if you want to drop one in Panem.

Review:
This was a cute little romance, but it focused more on the bedroom and less on the relationship. I didn't really get 2 people falling in love, so much as 2 people giving in to lust. The conflicts were manufactured, and the groveling at the end just wasn't enough. Overall, 3 stars, but I didn't bother to add any others in the series to my TBR.
