Katelyn | 546 comments Alright what are we thinking ladies. Here are a few that I am just throwing out there. We can all suggest a few and then we can see if we have any crossover or we can pick/vote on one. I am trying to pick bigger series since we each have to read a different book.

Moo U series
Wishing Well, Texas
Love in Bloom
Aspen Cove
The Brentwood Boys
Bad Motherpuckers
Corps Security
Seal of Protection
Hot Jocks
With Me in Seattle
Wynn Hockey

☘KathyD☘ | 4832 comments I've finished Corps Security, Harper Sloan and Seal of Protection, Susan Stoker

if we can use a spin-off series as part of an option, then I am at book #2 in Seal of Protection: Legacy, Susan Stoker

I'm at book #13 in With Me in Seattle, Kristen Proby

for the other series' you listed Katelyn, I'd be starting at book #1...of those books, I like the following:
Brentwood Boys
Bad Motherpuckers
Hot Jocks
Wynn Hockey

I don't know if anyone is an In Death, J.D. Robb fan, but that's another good option...I'm doing a reread and am at book #13

I'm also at various books in the following series' that are fairly long:
The Baileys, Piper Rayne
Masters & Mercenaries, Lexi Blake
Black Dagger Brotherhood, J.R. Ward
Dark Protectors, Rebecca Zanetti

Review — This is not my favorite of Ms. Bennett’s two hockey series’, but it was still a good story. I loved catching up with most of the couples from previous books and getting to know some of the upcoming players getting their own book!

The story had more telling than showing. 'Oh, we were enemies turned friends', 'Oh, we are so in love'. I didn't feel it because the author didn't show it. The interesting part was about baby-mother and how the MCs weren't kind to her, but neither understood or regretted their decisions and grew in the book. It was painful to read mental health issues laid in a precarious manner.

Hayde | 207 comments It looks like I might be the one to use the pass.

I huge pet peeve of mine is misrepresentation of underrepresented groups. And this book is fully doing that. In one corner it has a Mexican character with heavy accent and randomly say Spanish words. It’s like the author does not understand what being bilingual is. Is it plausible sure, is it like the character would be doing that no. So fine I ignore it. But in the next chapter, the Mexican character is making an ‘authentic’ dinner and it’s hard shell tacos. Come on! At least do your research author. Hard shells are an American thing.

And do not get me started on a therapist dating a client....

J, I felt the same way while reading Legend’s book. Idk how I forgot about that. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

I’m sorry for recommending this series.

I’ll try to keep reading but if I’m not done by the time Katelyn reads her. I’m just taking a pass.

Wow, thats seriously disturbing. Never read a therapist and client before, but I generally have a huge pet peeve when the power dynamics are poles apart.

Sorry, Hayde. Hope your next read will be better.

Task 12 - 101. Read 8 books published in even months and even years.

Books selected for this task need to have been initially published in even months (February, April, June, August, October or December) and even years (2010, 2012, 2014, etc). Make sure you use the initial publication date for this task. If there is a date at the top of the editions page use it, otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the initial publication date in your completion post.

A freaking page-turner. The author manages to create such multi-layered female characters with hell lot of issues, and assholistic attitudes, and yet make the read interesting and worthwhile. I loved each part of the book.

Review — I enjoyed this book, but I had some issues with how it was presented. Knowing the next two books in the series are mostly from Embry’s and Ash’s perspectives helped, but I felt the book was a bit lacking since it was only told from Greer’s perspective. The back and forth in time worked well, but some portions just didn’t seem to help advance the story. I am looking forward to the gentlemen’s perspectives as the story continues.

Review — What a great story! I couldn’t help but notice some parallels between the In Death series, but this is certainly not the same series. Both include strong female law enforcement characters who struggle with inner demons. This book intertwines politics with family with secrets and lies. While there is a lot going on in this first installment, it all flows well to a great conclusion. I read the short novella that provided the background for Sam’s and Nick’s relationship, but it wasn’t necessary to enjoy the story. I just like reading books in order.

This is a slow burn book. Going back and forth between the past and present. How the two main characters are falling in love and flashing back to the times growing up when they met or almost met.

At times the book read more like a movie script that a book. Once I read that the author used to be a movie producer it made more sense.

Right (Cafe, #2) by Jana Aston
Right, Jana Aston – 5/10/21 – ✮✮✮✰✰
Kindle first-edition264 pages
How the Book Qualifiespublished 4/16
Review — This book started with some great promise. Everly tells the story of her life-long love for Finn, her older brother’s best friend. Happenstance puts her in the car with Finn’s brother for a 3-hour car ride back to school where he plays a “get-to-know-you” game that drives her crazy. After a brief courting period, Sawyer wears Everly down and she agrees to a date. Their relationship progresses quickly from there until the abrupt stop…which is where I had to pull the first star. The stop in their relationship made no sense to me and came out of nowhere. The second star was pulled for how it was resolved. It was too perfect and, in my opinion, the wrong person took on the responsibility to get back together. The one who broke everything off so abruptly should have figured out how to patch things up. Through it all though there is Ms. Aston’s quirky humor. Everly is like a 10-car pile up that you can’t help but stare at that makes for some hysterical moments, but she has the best intentions, especially where her friends are concerned.
