Nimrat | 2356 comments So Nworthia if you're seeing this, let me know which books you're interested in reading.

message 2: by laure (last edited Mar 03, 2021 04:32PM) (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments hi Nimrat!!
i'm so so so sorry, i'm soooo lateee ;-;
i just sent you a private message because i forgot these existed- hum anyways
so basically i've seen that you're currently reading four books, so maybe i could try to catch up with one of them...?
i do need to re-read Six of Crows for my book club, but if you can't read it it's okay, i'll get to it on the side.
apart from that there isn't necessarily a specific book i want to read at the moment, but please let me know if you want to read something in particular because i'm pretty sure i can adapt to it if you give me a reasonable range of possibilities :) (libraries are my pals but i'm scared my country will get under lockdown again so please tell me if there are popular/easy to find books you're interested in as quickly as possible!)
also, if i've already read a book you've been wanting to read, i'm always okay with a re-read.
do you have anything in mind?

message 3: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments oh lord i forgot about the time difference...- (i live in europe, whoops)

message 4: by laure (last edited Mar 03, 2021 04:33PM) (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments okay well since i'm there whilst you're asleep, i might as well make an overly specific list of books that i've already read but you want to read, and that i own (btw i think you've just created this account so if there's anything on my tbr that would interest you, please let me know!!):
The Hobbit, or There and Back Again (read a long time ago so would love to re-read)
Fablehaven (i kinda dislike this book but if it's the only solution, i'll go for it)
The School for Good and Evil
The Poet X (love it to my core)
Keeper of the Lost Cities (we love a nostalgic read)
The Hunger Games (again, nostalgia)
i've seen that you're into rick riordan books; i'd totally be up for a re-read of some of his books if that interests you!

i just updated my owned-tbr shelf so if you'd like to take a look and see if you own any of these, here it is:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...#

also, you seem to read a lot of middle grade/ya fantasy and contemporary fiction, but please let me know if you'd be interested in reading something a bit different :)

message 5: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments Out of my currently reading we could probably start the Book Thief. Because I just stared it and never got around to reading it again.
And yes Six of Crows!! I really need to read that one!! We can do that.
And The Poet X!!
Also there are loads of books I wanna read which I haven't added to my TBR on goodreads. I'll probably think of some later but let's start one of these first.
How about The Book Thief?
And yes I'd be interested in anything different too. Those are just the genres I mostly read from.

message 6: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments okay, sure! i don't actually own a physical copy of 'the book thief' at the moment but i'm pretty sure i'll be able to get it at my school library if i hurry up between two classes tomorrow, so i'll probably get started with it this weekend!
by the way, thanks so much for putting time into comparing our tbr's and writing down every book we have in common, this is going to be really useful later on!!
are there books on your tbr that you *own* and that are relatively popular/easy to find? since i'm going to the library, might as well make the most of it :))

message 7: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments oh i just saw your other message! i could try to get Maybe He Just Likes You but i don't think i'm going to be able to pick it up very easily since i've never heard of it and i'm not so confident about it being at my library... and i can't really order it or anything because of covid right now :'(

message 8: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments btw, in terms of my username's pronunciation, i made it up so it's kind of supposed to sound like "[n]-worthy-ah".
you can also call me by my actual name if you want to!
= laure (pronounced like "laur")

message 9: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments The only books on my TBR that I own are The Book Thief and The Blood of Olympus.
The rest are online.
Also there's this site where you can download books for free. It's called a library. So if you really want to read a book but cant find it anywhere, you can go there and most probably it'll be available.
Which book should we start today?

message 10: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments Ngl that's actually such a creative username!
Okay. I guess I'll call you Laure.

message 11: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments From your owned TBR we could start An Ember in The Ashes!! I really need to read that one. Also that's the BOTM for one of the groups I'm in. So I actually need to get to that.
Do you wanna read it?

message 12: by laure (new)

i meannn i can't really go out and find a book right now and i'd kinda like to read a physical book at the moment, so i don't know if you can get it today but maybe we could read 'the poet x'...? since it's written in verse, it could be a quick read and we could get to 'the book thief' as soon as i take it from my library!
but again, as you wish, i could always try to find an ebook if there's a book you'd really like to read right now!

message 13: by laure (last edited Mar 04, 2021 01:04AM) (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments i don't think i'd be able to re-read the blood of olympus right now because i read this series a longggg time ago so i'd probably have to start with the first book if i want to remember/understand anything at all ;-;

message 14: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments Nimrat wrote: "From your owned TBR we could start An Ember in The Ashes!! I really need to read that one. Also that's the BOTM for one of the groups I'm in. So I actually need to get to that.
Do you wanna read it?"

oh yes, sure! that would be amazing!! i've been wanting to read it for sooo long

message 15: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments Yeah I get wanting to read just physical books. I used to do that too.
Yes I'd be totally up for The Poet X. I have an ebook so we can start now if you want. How many chapters do you wanna read in a day?
Yes of course!

message 16: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments so ignore my previous messages, i hadn't received yours haha

message 17: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments Ok... so which one do we start now? An Ember in the Ashes or The Poet X?

message 18: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments should we plan to read a certain amount of chapters a day? how quickly/how many pages do you normally read per day?

message 19: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments Nimrat wrote: "Ok... so which one do we start now? An Ember in the Ashes or The Poet X?"

i'd love to start an ember in the ashes since i haven't read it yet, if that's okay for you!

message 20: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments nworthia wrote: "i don't think i'd be able to re-read the blood of olympus right now because i read this series a longggg time ago so i'd probably have to start with the first book if i want to remember/understand ..."
If I'd been in your place I wouldn't read it either. So we're all good. That's why I didn't mention reading that.

message 21: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments nworthia wrote: "should we plan to read a certain amount of chapters a day? how quickly/how many pages do you normally read per day?"
It depends on the amount of work I have from school and also how interesting the book is.
I think we should do it by chapters. Because pages would be confusing for me with the ebooks.

message 22: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments nworthia wrote: "Nimrat wrote: "Ok... so which one do we start now? An Ember in the Ashes or The Poet X?"

YES!! I'd love to start it too!! So let's do it. How many chapters a day?

message 23: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments So the book has 50 chapters.

message 24: by laure (last edited Mar 04, 2021 01:17AM) (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments okay so i just checked and there are fifty chapters, each of them being about 5-10 pages long. when i'm in school i can get 50 pages read a day since i'm often REALLY busy (so next week, basically) but on the weekend, i can honestly read from 100 pages to a whole book a day because i can't really go out (covid), sooo maybe we could change the amount of chapters depending on the day? i don't know.

message 25: by laure (last edited Mar 04, 2021 01:18AM) (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments what about you? i don't want this to be stressing for either of us btw, so pls let me know! 50 pages a day is a lot sometimes and i might die trying btw

message 26: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments so yeah idk... maybe 5 chapters on week-days and 10/15 on weekends?

message 27: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments First thing is that I come back from school at 2 p.m.
From that time till 4 I usually do my homework. After doing my homework I go to my tutors for maths and science because those subjects require practice. After that I come back at 6 or sometimes 7 if we decide to go somewhere else in the way.
After that I usually do more h.w.
So I read from 9:30 to 10:30 usually. But I could probably make it from 9 to 11.
So 2 hours. I guess I can try reading 100 pages.

message 28: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments Let's try completing the first part of the book today, i.e. 13 chapters.

message 29: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments nworthia wrote: "so yeah idk... maybe 5 chapters on week-days and 10/15 on weekends?"
Sounds good.

message 30: by laure (last edited Mar 04, 2021 01:31AM) (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments okayyy (key word is try haha) i think i can make it

message 31: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments i usually come back from school at 6pm and usually do homework till 8/9, so i think i can manage (although it might be a bit challenging). if the book is fast-paced (which i think is the case) i'll definitely make it though.

message 32: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments Nimrat wrote: "nworthia wrote: "so yeah idk... maybe 5 chapters on week-days and 10/15 on weekends?"

okay so what do we do? i can actually read a lot more on weekends, i didn't know you read that much so i didn't want to say things that would be too challenging, but honestly you can choose; i'll adapt

message 33: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments nworthia wrote: "okayyy (key word is try haha) i think i can make it"

i was talking about the thirteen chapters, by the way

message 34: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments Actually I don't really read that much nowadays with school starting again and all. But I like to challenge myself.XD.

message 35: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments nworthia wrote: "okayyy (key word is try haha) i think i can make it"
Yes keyword is try😂

message 36: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments Even 5 chapters a day would be challenging enough tbh so let's just see how this goes today.

message 37: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments okay so should we try to read the first part today and see if we can actually manage the 13 chapters thing? we'll get organised for the rest of the month based on that!

message 38: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments I'll just try to read as much as I can today.

message 39: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments Nimrat wrote: "nworthia wrote: "okayyy (key word is try haha) i think i can make it"

we might be deceased by the end of the month. or mentally unstable
😂

Nimrat | 2356 comments nworthia wrote: "okay so should we try to read the first part today and see if we can actually manage the 13 chapters thing? we'll get organised for the rest of the month based on that!"
Yes. If we actually read the first part today I'll feel more hopeful about reading more lol.

message 41: by laure (last edited Mar 04, 2021 01:48AM) (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments Nimrat wrote: "I'll just try to read as much as I can today."

okay, great! i'll do the same (but i definitely won't do more than 13 chapters, let's be honest)

message 42: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments So that's it. I think I'm gonna get off goodreads and get some work done. Bye! See you later!

Yes. If we..."

okay, awesome!

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments Nimrat wrote: "So that's it. I think I'm gonna get off goodreads and get some work done. Bye! See you later!"

sure, i'll definitely get off as well! see ya!!

message 45: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments I was just going to sleep but I thought of updating here.
So first things first. I failed miserably in today's challenge for me to read 13 chapters. I read only 3.😶
I'm so sorry. I didn't really get much time to read. And I can't stay up late because school starts early.

The plot as of right now is a bit confusing, but I'm sure I'll catch on as the story goes. I think the writing style is pretty good. And I like the pacing of this story so far. It's not that fast, but it's not slow either. It's just the perfect place.
I feel like this is gonna be really different than anything I've ever read before.

message 46: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments hi Nimrat! i was going to sleep and had the same idea.
DON'T WORRY!! 13 chapters was definitely way too challenging for 1) a first day 2) a schoolday 3) even in general, it's hard to get through the first 100 pages of a fantasy book in a day because there is a lot of world building and reflection!
and again, LET'S NOT PRESSURE OURSELVES! i know i'm going to suck royally at reading next week, and it's okay! let's not force ourselves to speed through this book and miss out on its greatness :))

message 47: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments i actually did manage to read the first 13 chapters today. i don't know how on earth i did this, but i did. the story kind of picks up and becomes addictive quite quickly, so i just couldn't stop, haha!
i'm not going to say anything in detail because i don't want to risk spoiling anything to you, but here are some little thoughts i had:
the plot was also confusing to me at first, but i did catch on after just a couple chapters, when more characters were introduced and the world building was more "explicit" (it's not the right word but basically we get some context).
i loveee the writing style; it's consistently good/not repetitive at all and makes the story addictive. also, the chapters' final sentences always slap and we love to see it. i'm LOVING the characters so far. although i'm still at an early stage of the story, it truly feels like i understand them/their personality and their motives. and yes, anyways, i don't want to give anything awayyyy so i'll shut up for now haha!

message 48: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments 13 chapters is definitely too much for me on school days (i had to read this at really random times during the day, whenever i had a break) and i'm pretty sure it is for you too... we'll definitely have to figure something out for the following days/weeks because let's not burn out on the first days!
tomorrow is going to be a *really* busy day for me and i don't think i'll get much time to read anyway, so i figured i could maybe take a break from reading and give you time to catch up! and then we'll be able to talk about it and restart since we'll be at the same stage in the story. and we'll also figure out an appropriate amount of chapters to get through per day haha! would that be okay for you?
no pressure to get to chapter 14 tomorrow by the way; i don't want you to speed through this book because it's SO GOOD! also, i technically had more time to read than you did today because of the time difference soooo you're technically not late on anything (*wink wink*).

message 49: by laure (new)

laure (nworthia) | 57 comments anyway, hope you're having/had a lovely morning! i'm going to go to sleep right here right now because i'm absolutely exhausted and have school early tomorrow, but i'll talk to you later! byeee!!

message 50: by Nimrat (new)

Nimrat | 2356 comments Whoa. That's literally so amazing. I hope I can catch up to you though. I'm on chapter 7 so hopefully I can at least finish the first part today.
Yes I had a great day at school today. What about you?
And I think I'm kinda starting to understand the world a bit more, so it's a little less confusing now.
