i'm so so so sorry, i'm soooo lateee ;-;
i just sent you a private message because i forgot these existed- hum anyways
so basically i've seen that you're currently reading four books, so maybe i could try to catch up with one of them...?
i do need to re-read Six of Crows for my book club, but if you can't read it it's okay, i'll get to it on the side.
apart from that there isn't necessarily a specific book i want to read at the moment, but please let me know if you want to read something in particular because i'm pretty sure i can adapt to it if you give me a reasonable range of possibilities :) (libraries are my pals but i'm scared my country will get under lockdown again so please tell me if there are popular/easy to find books you're interested in as quickly as possible!)
also, if i've already read a book you've been wanting to read, i'm always okay with a re-read.
do you have anything in mind?

The Hobbit, or There and Back Again (read a long time ago so would love to re-read)
Fablehaven (i kinda dislike this book but if it's the only solution, i'll go for it)
The School for Good and Evil
The Poet X (love it to my core)
Keeper of the Lost Cities (we love a nostalgic read)
The Hunger Games (again, nostalgia)
i've seen that you're into rick riordan books; i'd totally be up for a re-read of some of his books if that interests you!
i just updated my owned-tbr shelf so if you'd like to take a look and see if you own any of these, here it is:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...#
also, you seem to read a lot of middle grade/ya fantasy and contemporary fiction, but please let me know if you'd be interested in reading something a bit different :)

And yes Six of Crows!! I really need to read that one!! We can do that.
And The Poet X!!
Also there are loads of books I wanna read which I haven't added to my TBR on goodreads. I'll probably think of some later but let's start one of these first.
How about The Book Thief?
And yes I'd be interested in anything different too. Those are just the genres I mostly read from.

by the way, thanks so much for putting time into comparing our tbr's and writing down every book we have in common, this is going to be really useful later on!!
are there books on your tbr that you *own* and that are relatively popular/easy to find? since i'm going to the library, might as well make the most of it :))

you can also call me by my actual name if you want to!
= laure (pronounced like "laur")

The rest are online.
Also there's this site where you can download books for free. It's called a library. So if you really want to read a book but cant find it anywhere, you can go there and most probably it'll be available.
Which book should we start today?

Do you wanna read it?

i meannn i can't really go out and find a book right now and i'd kinda like to read a physical book at the moment, so i don't know if you can get it today but maybe we could read 'the poet x'...? since it's written in verse, it could be a quick read and we could get to 'the book thief' as soon as i take it from my library!
but again, as you wish, i could always try to find an ebook if there's a book you'd really like to read right now!

Do you wanna read it?"
oh yes, sure! that would be amazing!! i've been wanting to read it for sooo long

Yes I'd be totally up for The Poet X. I have an ebook so we can start now if you want. How many chapters do you wanna read in a day?
Yes of course!

i'd love to start an ember in the ashes since i haven't read it yet, if that's okay for you!

If I'd been in your place I wouldn't read it either. So we're all good. That's why I didn't mention reading that.

It depends on the amount of work I have from school and also how interesting the book is.
I think we should do it by chapters. Because pages would be confusing for me with the ebooks.

YES!! I'd love to start it too!! So let's do it. How many chapters a day?

From that time till 4 I usually do my homework. After doing my homework I go to my tutors for maths and science because those subjects require practice. After that I come back at 6 or sometimes 7 if we decide to go somewhere else in the way.
After that I usually do more h.w.
So I read from 9:30 to 10:30 usually. But I could probably make it from 9 to 11.
So 2 hours. I guess I can try reading 100 pages.

Sounds good."
okay so what do we do? i can actually read a lot more on weekends, i didn't know you read that much so i didn't want to say things that would be too challenging, but honestly you can choose; i'll adapt

i was talking about the thirteen chapters, by the way

Yes keyword is try😂"
we might be deceased by the end of the month. or mentally unstable
😂

Yes. If we actually read the first part today I'll feel more hopeful about reading more lol.

okay, great! i'll do the same (but i definitely won't do more than 13 chapters, let's be honest)

Yes. If we..."
okay, awesome!

sure, i'll definitely get off as well! see ya!!

So first things first. I failed miserably in today's challenge for me to read 13 chapters. I read only 3.😶
I'm so sorry. I didn't really get much time to read. And I can't stay up late because school starts early.
The plot as of right now is a bit confusing, but I'm sure I'll catch on as the story goes. I think the writing style is pretty good. And I like the pacing of this story so far. It's not that fast, but it's not slow either. It's just the perfect place.
I feel like this is gonna be really different than anything I've ever read before.

DON'T WORRY!! 13 chapters was definitely way too challenging for 1) a first day 2) a schoolday 3) even in general, it's hard to get through the first 100 pages of a fantasy book in a day because there is a lot of world building and reflection!
and again, LET'S NOT PRESSURE OURSELVES! i know i'm going to suck royally at reading next week, and it's okay! let's not force ourselves to speed through this book and miss out on its greatness :))

i'm not going to say anything in detail because i don't want to risk spoiling anything to you, but here are some little thoughts i had:
the plot was also confusing to me at first, but i did catch on after just a couple chapters, when more characters were introduced and the world building was more "explicit" (it's not the right word but basically we get some context).
i loveee the writing style; it's consistently good/not repetitive at all and makes the story addictive. also, the chapters' final sentences always slap and we love to see it. i'm LOVING the characters so far. although i'm still at an early stage of the story, it truly feels like i understand them/their personality and their motives. and yes, anyways, i don't want to give anything awayyyy so i'll shut up for now haha!

tomorrow is going to be a *really* busy day for me and i don't think i'll get much time to read anyway, so i figured i could maybe take a break from reading and give you time to catch up! and then we'll be able to talk about it and restart since we'll be at the same stage in the story. and we'll also figure out an appropriate amount of chapters to get through per day haha! would that be okay for you?
no pressure to get to chapter 14 tomorrow by the way; i don't want you to speed through this book because it's SO GOOD! also, i technically had more time to read than you did today because of the time difference soooo you're technically not late on anything (*wink wink*).

Yes I had a great day at school today. What about you?
And I think I'm kinda starting to understand the world a bit more, so it's a little less confusing now.
