Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments Hi Emma!

message 3: by Emma (new)

Emma | 112 comments Hey!
So I went through and found some books we both had on our TBRs. I think this is a good starting point, but if none of these interest you then lmk and we can look for others.

The Valley and the Flood (I just got this one from Barnes and Noble and it looks interesting but it just came out so I didn't know if you had a copy)
This Close to Okay
The Great Gatsby
The Gilded Wolves
The Kingdom of Back

message 4: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments Hi! I don't have physical copies of any of those. Let me look at our TBRs and I can find some books.

message 5: by Emma (new)

Emma | 112 comments Okay :)

message 6: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments Would you be interested in reading All That Glitters? This used to be called Enchantee but there was a title change. I hate the title change, but we're not going to discuss that

message 7: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments We could also read A Darker Shade of Magic if you were interested

Yes, that sounds good! I've been wanting to read it for a long time, but I haven't gotten around to it.

Wait, I wonder why they changed it? It's so weird! My library still has it under Enchantee

It's one of my favorites!

They changed it because 'it was too hard to pronounce'. Now the titles and covers are horrible. It's why I haven't bought the second book yet.

That's so weird!

Ooh, Six of Crows sounds good too, so we can start with whatever interests you more and then go from there!

message 12: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments I'm currently buddy reading SoC, so we can start with that! How fast do you normally read?

message 13: by Emma (new)

Emma | 112 comments Okay, that sounds good!

It really depends on the book haha but I can probably get it done within a few days.

message 14: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments Ok! I will start it after I finish some notes for history and French

message 15: by Emma (new)

Emma | 112 comments Hey, I just got home from work so sorry about not replying earlier! I am planning on starting it tonight and hopefully making some decent progress 🙂

message 16: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments That's ok! I just am settling down to read as well. Would you mind me asking what timezone you are in? This way we can coordinate when it is best for each of us to discuss and deliberate or just to get in touch with each other.

message 17: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments Also, I saw that your favorite Hamilton songs included Satisfied and Non-Stop. Non-Stop is my absolute favorite, but I can never find anyone else who loves it as well.

I'm in CST, so right now it's 8:52 AM.

YES, Non-Stop is one of my favorites! It's probably my second favorite. I've also never met anyone else who loves it as much as I do - until now lol! It's so underrated. My all time favorite is Wait For It but I honestly listen to Non-Stop more

message 19: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments Thank you!

IT IS! No one else ever seems to love it haha. I also love Dear Theodosia and It's Quiet Uptown

message 20: by Emma (new)

Emma | 112 comments Those are great ones! My other favorites are Burn and Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story. Overall the soundtrack is really good.

Do you like other musicals as well? I love Les Mis and The Sound of Music.

message 21: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments I haven't listened to Les Mis, but I also love The Sound of Music, and Austria in general. I have a weird obsession with moving to Hallstatt, Austria and eating all the croissants.

I love Dear Evan Hansen, Six, Oklahoma, Anastasia, Camelot, and South Pacific!

message 22: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments Have you listened to Found/Tonight? It's Ben Platt and Lin Manuel Miranda and it is SO good

Haha! I would love to go to Austria, it's so amazing there.

I have never really gotten into Dear Evan Hansen honestly, but I've heard good things about it. Okay wait, somebody mentioned Six recently and it sounded super intriguing. Isn't that the one about Henry VIII's wives?

message 24: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments It is! Six is wonderful and it's really short. The entire soundtrack is only 49 minutes long.

Honestly, I love DEH because of Ben Platt. His voice is so amazing and I love Words Fail.

I'm definitely going to have to give it a listen! I love history tbh, it's so interesting!!

Me too! It's my favorite subject.

message 27: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments Hi Emma! Sneha might be joining us since their partner never responded. I'm not even sure if this is allowed, but I felt bad since they had wanted to participate

message 28: by Lacey, Bookish Human (new)

Lacey | 1581 comments It’s definitely allowed, thanks for including them!

message 29: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments I'm glad it's ok! I will let them know!

message 30: by Emma (new)

Emma | 112 comments Okay, sounds good! :)

message 31: by Sneha (new)

Sneha | 30 comments hey! thank you for inviting me!! since I have few exams left so I'll be a little slow until 15 but I promise to catch up

message 32: by Emma (new)

Emma | 112 comments Sneha wrote: "hey! thank you for inviting me!! since I have few exams left so I'll be a little slow until 15 but I promise to catch up"

That's okay! This is a super busy time for me too rn. I have been applying for college scholarships and stuff like that lol

message 33: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments I also have exams coming up, so all of us are going to be a bit slow.

Speaking of which, what page of SoC are you on, Emma?

message 34: by Emma (new)

Emma | 112 comments I’m only on page 35 right now, but it’s so good so far! I really wish I could just read it all but I don’t have the time right now

What about you?

message 35: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments I'm on page 129, but I haven't had any time to read it. The only reason I've read so much is that it is a re-read and it is much easier to find the 'reading zone'.

message 36: by Sneha (new)

Sneha | 30 comments I have read 15 pages but it's hard to put down the book

message 37: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments It really is! I had to take a break to do some schoolwork and I can't handle the wait!

message 38: by Sneha (new)

Sneha | 30 comments I'm debating to whether read a little everyday or just read all at once after the exams

message 39: by Emma (new)

Emma | 112 comments I wish I could read all day but I have a paper due at midnight 😭

message 40: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments I have 4 projects that I have decided to just ignore

message 41: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments Sneha wrote: "I'm debating to whether read a little everyday or just read all at once after the exams"

I would read it all at once

message 42: by Emma (new)

Emma | 112 comments Lorelei wrote: "I have 4 projects that I have decided to just ignore"

Haha! I just finished my paper and I have a few homework assignments to finish up, then I can just read

message 43: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments I’m reading SoC now. Onto page 181

message 44: by Emma (new)

Emma | 112 comments Hey! How are you guys doing with Six Of Crows?

message 45: by Sneha (new)

Sneha | 30 comments I haven't been able to read much, but it is really confusing at the beginning, or is it just me ?? also reading in pieces doesn't help, so I might read it all together

message 46: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments Sneha wrote: "I haven't been able to read much, but it is really confusing at the beginning, or is it just me ?? also reading in pieces doesn't help, so I might read it all together"

I always skip over the first chapter and go straight to the real first chapter (Inej's perspective). It's meant to be a bit confusing, but it all unravels so well. I had to finish it two days ago because a friend of mine needed a copy of the book.

message 47: by Emma (new)

Emma | 112 comments I also skipped the first chapter. My first time trying to read it I got stuck there and didn’t make it that far. Now I’m doing much better with that out of the way

message 48: by Emma (new)

Emma | 112 comments Hey! So you finished Six of Crows, Lorelei? I'm hoping to finish up soon.

message 49: by Lorelei (new)

Lorelei (literarylitanies) | 373 comments I did! Do you want to start Enchantee after?

message 50: by Emma (new)

Emma | 112 comments Lorelei wrote: "I did! Do you want to start Enchantee after?"

Yep! I have an audiobook right now and I'll be able to get a physical copy from my library soon. I'll probably do a combination of reading it physically and listening.
