it's a waving hand but the lines symbolising the movement can look like an object from farther away
The highest number of books I read was in Jan (33) and I want to beat my personal high. So in May, I'm setting myself a goal of 35 books. I'm going to track it here.

You've read ch 1. Any advice?Ella tried to reach up to rub her eyes but the rushing wind kept her hands well away from her eyes. Her body spun through the air and her arms flailed around. She finally hit the floor and it surprisingly didn't hurt. She sat up and looked around her. She was sitting on a stony pathway which led up to a magnificent castle. On her left were trees and on her right there was water. She stood up and started walking down the pathway. A huge door loomed over her. Without thinking, she pushed it open. Only when she stepped inside did she realised that the doors were not heavy at all. She looked around. Hundreds of doors lined the walls. Some were as high as the ceiling and some looked like a cat flap. There were plaques on every door, marking what they were for.
Ella traced the wall with her fingers. Her eyes fell on a door labelled 'Merelves: Knock only if you have something important to say'.
Ella lifted her hand and knocked. She felt a pang in her chest; something that doesn't happen often. The scenery changed before her eyes. The wood melted in front of her and she could see everything from the corners of her eyes change.
A huge table appeared in front of her. Five somewhat resembling people were sitting around it. They each had flowing white beards with silver stars dotted in in them. They wore robes with the most beautiful designs; red, blue, green and white.
One of them got up started walking towards Ella. "You're finally here!" he said. "We were starting to get worried."
"Do I...do I know you?" Ella asked, keeping a cautious distance. He laughed. "No, you don't. But we know you and your family very well!"
Ella stared at this stranger. "How?"
"We'll give you the details later. We're Merelves by the way," he said, holding out his hand. "I'm Albion. It's really nice to meet you!"
"You too!" Ella took his hand. Somehow she felt her fear melting away.
"Follow me," Albion said.
He led Ella out of the door. Instead of the room of doors, they found themselves in a corridor. It seemed never-ending on the right side. Albion turned left and headed up the corridor to a staircase. He stepped up onto the second one and motioned to Ella to step up on the first one.
"To the heart," he said. The staircase creaked and Ella grabbed onto the bannister. She looked over it and realised that the entire staircase was moving. The motion stopped and Ella quickly opened the door at the bottom and stepped inside. Albion followed. As soon as the door was closed, he snapped his fingers and held up his hands. Bright light emitted from it. Flashes and swirls surrounded her. Slowly the light dimmed and disappeared. The first thing Ella noticed was that three strange girls had appeared beside her. They were in random positions. The one beside her was sitting on the floor, looking around in surprise. The one farthest from her had stopped mid-walk and was staring at the Merelve with her mouth open. The third one had her hand up as if she were holding an imaginary book. She was blinking at it.
"Welcome to the castle, girls!" Albion said. Ella could almost imagine music in the background.
All four of them stared at each other.
"Brynne?" Albion said, coaxingly.
The one who had been walking reached down to her wrist. A bracelet, similar to the one Ella was wearing, hung a little loosely.
"Alice. Claire."
The other two girls did the same. Ella instinctively reached down to her own bracelet. "Come on! Press it," Albion was looking over them. Ella hesitantly pressed the jewel on hers, thinking about the last time she'd attempted that. A thought struck her. 'What if it's a way home?' She excitedly pressed it. Her back suddenly seemed weighed down. She reached back and caught hold of a handle of some sorts. She pulled at it. She found herself staring at a stick. It was black and had the symbol of wind engraved on it. White lined the edges.
Ella turned it over in her hands. She looked up and saw that the other three had similar sticks; only theirs had different symbols and colours.
"Welcome to Merelvion!" Albion exclaimed.
"Mer- what?" Ella asked.
All the three girls turned to stare at her.
"You don't know what Merelvion is?" the one beside her asked.
"No...," Ella didn't know what to say.
"It's... this!" The girl spread her arms.
"The castle?" Ella asked. That's what it seemed to her.
"No," Albion interrupted. "It's this world."
He turned to face the other girls. "Ella is from The Earth."
All eyes turned to Ella, three pairs filled with new respect.
"How is it there?" asked the one called Brynne.
"Um..." Ella had no idea how to describe it.
