This was a quick little story. I read it in high school but forgot all except the premise.

(view spoiler)[ I'm not quite sure what the moral/theme is here. Perhaps that one could sacrifice their health for work and family, and when they've fallen ill work and family may abandon them? A person is only useful when he is a tool, and is otherwise despicable like a beetle? (hide spoiler)]

I enjoyed the opportunity to revisit.
