YA Fantasy book; read about 2-3 yrs ago. From what I can remember there were people who lived in the trees and the lucky of them would bond with these dogs. Then there were people who lived on the ground and the very special of them could summon moonlight power to help their people with I think it was called moon sickness. This sickness caused the women to be really depressed and turned the men very violent unless a moon women treated them once a month. But then the daughter of a moon women bonds with a dog from the tree people. The dog people and moon people have always been at odds with another. Later in the series of the books their are also people who bond with horses. The villains are these people who live in the ruins of an old city and they take the skin off of other people to wear and they worship this death god person. I know at some point there is a really bad fire during the first or second book. The dog people can also become really sick if there skin is cut and exposed to the air. This is all I can remember right now... I'll edit if I remember more. Thanks everyone! :)
