Another book with Indian Mythology. But compared to The Pandava Series, I'd prefer that. Look, this was interesting, but I felt I was reading a totally different book except perhaps the feet of Shiva creating noise. Honestly! But I still really liked this book.

Plot
Tibetian immigrant, Shiva, finds his way to the modern-day Indus Valley Civilization, formerly known as Meluha, where people live long lives. When he gets a blue throat, his whole life changes and he becomes the Lord, the next Mahadev.

"The story of a man, whom legend turned into a god."

As the Neelkanth (The one with the blue neck), his task is to finish Lord Ram's unfinished task. Namely, rid the world of evil. For that, he'll have to fight the Chandravanshis.

The real story is quite different, but I still enjoyed this and was intrigued after the first 40 pages or so. I have no complaints against it.

Writing
The writing was good and intriguing. It was not beautiful and doesn't even have to be. In my opinion, good writing should be engaging, modern and either funny or wise.

The writing in The Immortals of Meluha is

~Engaging
~Modern (though not in the way I was expecting. More on that)
~Funny
~Very little wise

So it pretty much ticks of everything. But as I said, the writing was Modern in a different way. I couldn't help comparing it to Pandava series (view spoiler)[Aru Shah and the End of Time , Aru Shah and the Song of Death and Aru Shah and the Tree of Wishes (hide spoiler)] because I was told this book is a lot like that. But the difference in the writing is that according to this book, modern writing is swearing, which I don't like at all and in the Pandava series, it was like we talk today without the swearing. Predictably, I preferred that.

Worldbuilding

The worldbuilding was obviously researched and remade from the history of the Indus Valley Civilization, but I also researched on it and found nothing about platforms. I love how the ruins were twisted to create the city of Meluha.
But a few cultures and customs did not get my approval. For example the Maika system and undoubtedly the Vikarma system. That was RIDICULOUS. Honestly. I wanted to slap someone. Even though Lord Ram created it, it was RIDICULOUS.

Characters

Shiva was one of my favorite characters but not my utmost favorite. He did a lot of good things which I approve of and he also did the most swearing. His reason?

"The swear when the occasion demands," Shiva grinned."
