I would've read this book around 2010 - 2015

I remember the book starts with a girl getting dropped off at some type of aptitude test, and I remember something about a pencil. She forgets a pencil or breaks her pencil or something like that. And then it turns out it was a trick test and she was one of the few selected ones who passed the test. And she's special for some reason.
