Personality: Born Crown Prince of Illéa, Fabian has always accepted the fact that he has a duty to his people, which is something he takes very seriously. Upon first glance, he may seem overly formal, a little too solemn for some people's tastes. This is not the case, however. Like a chameleon, he changes his colours to fit the situation. This does not mean that he is a false person, merely that there are many layers to his personality. For instance, he honours the time-honoured tradition of The Selection, but he is willing to keep it going for as long as it takes until he finds the right girl -- a girl who is a twin soul to his. Although he knows that he must choose the right Queen for Illéa, he will above all be searching for the Queen of his heart, and hopes they are one in the same.
When alone with his friends, he is far less ceremonious, dropping the formalities in favour of a more relaxed attitude. However, he is trained in all aspects of etiquette and rarely neglects his social graces when in a formal situation.
Fabian speaks politely to most people and tends to put his arguments across in a civilised manner, but if he perceives an injustice or a wrong being done, he will speak out against it. He does not like to see people being treated unfairly. Though he acknowledges the caste system is a valuable means of keeping Illéa organized, he dislikes the fact that the lower castes struggle to feed their families and obtain basic necessities and is happy that The Selection will give girls of all castes an opportunity to change their situation. He himself has never discriminated when it comes to his friends and will just as gladly engage a six in conversation as he would a two.
As he is so very fond of his sister, he intends to watch carefully how The Selected engage with her, as he does not wish to marry someone who will not treat Lyra well. How they treat his mother will also be important, as he is a respectful and dutiful son and he wishes for a wife who will be kind to his mother, but his main concern is Lyra as she is currently the most important person in his life.

History: Fabian Leander Schreave was born to Aurelia May and Andronicus Xanthos Schreave, rulers of Illéa. While he emerged healthy and strong, his twin sister Lyra was not so fortunate. As the first-born Schreave Prince, he was destined to rule over Illéa one day, which he soon came to understand. This great responsibility never frightened him though. On the contrary, it was a burden he felt honoured to bear, and he looked forward to his future with wide-eyed idealism.
He worked hard at his lessons, learning all that he could about the kingdom, its provinces and its people. When he was old enough, he travelled from province to province, engaging with the upper castes and organizing charity events for the benefit of the lower. Meanwhile, he made himself very popular at the palace, befriending many of its staff, though he rarely strayed too far from the tight-knit group he had formed with Ellowyn, Elian and Alina.
His sister has always been very dear to him. Anyone who treats her badly answers directly to him. When not at his royal duties, he would make a point of visiting her, spending hours in her company. As she was not always well enough to leave her room, he would often bring her news of what was going on in the palace and provinces and together they would paint, write and engage in other activities they enjoyed.
Now that the Selection is about to start, he knows he will not have as much time to spend with Lyra, but he is very much looking forward to greeting his future bride, whoever she may be. He only hopes that there is one among the thirty-five Selected he can love.

Personality: Lyra is a girl who is accustomed to getting her way, but she needs not scream nor demand, she needs only smile sweetly and use her silver tongue. Usually, she need only ask once, but if that fails, she can usually provide a good reason why she should be given the thing she wants and that will sway the person. Her father is usually quite happy to give his darling daughter anything she wants anyway, as she never asks for anything unreasonable.
Compromise is a large part of Lyra's life when it comes to freedom, so physical luxuries compensate for that a lot. She cannot, for instance, leave her chambers unaccompanied, lest she faint and hurt herself. She is not bitter about this. She knows no different, so she is accepting of her circumstances. Usually one to find the positives in her situation, she is quick to point out to anyone who pities her that the time spent in her chambers gives her more time to work on her hobbies.
When Lyra has a very severe headache, she will barely speak above a whisper. On other occasions when she is less afflicted, she may be more animated. Trained in etiquette, Lyra knows how to behave like the perfect lady and always does so in public, but in the privacy of her own rooms around her brother, her maid and those few her brother has introduced her to that she has become friends with, she allows her little eccentricities to show. On occasion, they will peak through anyway, but most people find them charming.

Important Miscellaneous Information: Lyra is securely guarded due to her many illnesses. She cannot leave her chambers unaccompanied, be that by a guard, servant or member of her family. Someone must check on her every fifteen minutes while she is in her chambers if she is alone. If attending a palace event, she must be accompanied by a servant or guard at all times. If ever there is a need for her to leave the palace, that number increases to four and she must be taken out in a wheelchair.
