20.5 - Bigger is Better - Ann A's Task: Big Books, Big Titles

In honor of Big Books and wordiness, read a book with a title/subtitle consisting of AT LEAST 8 WORDS. Remember, hypendated words count as ONE word.

Examples:
The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration
Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots
Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch
The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared

Bea When I saw the title of your task, my heart skipped a beat. I thought it was going to be about BIG BOOKS (more than 500 pages)...and those intimidate me. What a sigh of relief when I saw further that it was a title task!

Marie (UK) (mazza1) | 3940 comments Is this a title OR Subtitle or is it a combined Title and Subtitle - I think i have something - it has a long subtitle just wanted to be sure

The Rag and Bone Shop: How We Make Memories and Memories Make Us

Ha! and I here I sat whooping it up because I love a BIG book and have way too many on my TBR. However, a lot of those have long titles, so I am happy either way ;)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 1555 comments @ Marie,

wait for verification, but I think you missed this in your reading of the task read a book with a title/subtitle-to me this means a combination is good to go

message 9: by Bea (new)

Bea @ Marie...I also noted that your subtitle has 8 words.

Sandi Barnes | 549 comments the first two examples in the task wouldn't work if it was an either/or.

Joanne is correct. That book works!

(And it IS title and subtitle combined)

If you don’t mind graphic novels - John Lewis co-authored a 3 book series about the March to Selma that goes well with this

I've read and loved them! My daughter was a congressional staffer for a while and got me a signed copy of the first one (March: Book One). It's one of my most prized possessions.

Teri-K I'm stumped. I tried to find a rule about this, but didn't see one. I'm listening to The Grand Tour: or, The Purloined Coronation Regalia, which has 8 words in the title. But, the pb version, (There is no mmpb), only has the title The Grand Tour. So, does the version I listened to count, or the pb version, for this task?

Thanks for the clarification.

For anything to do with cover, or title, you use the edition that you actually read/listened to. The use of the pb edition is for establishing page count.

Thanks! I knew that was true for covers, but was not sure about titles. :)
