Row | 5 comments Looking for: MM Romance/Sci Fi/Horror book

This book is in many ways similar to N.R. Walker's book, "Evolved." However that book as a HEA ending.

The book I am looking for is about a guy (MC) who maybe is, or was a former, AI scientist and ultimately takes a tortured/abused android home. He hides him at his home and falls in love with the android thinking he can help the android. The Android ends up killing another character or two and the MC suspects this happened but can't give the android up. At the end of the book, the Android kills MC out of his love for MC. The android fixed MC breakfast in the kitchen sitting with his dead body like nothing is wrong. Was a great story; very thought-provoking.

I believe it was a full length story, but it is possible this was a short story and/or in an anthology.

This story was probably written between 2016 - 2019. Sorry, I can't remember any names of characters.

Row, around what year did you read this book?

I added a few details - and a spoiler alert - to the header/topic title. You can update it by clicking the small "edit" link after the header. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app. (On the Mobile website, click the "Desktop version" link at the bottom of the page.)

Row | 5 comments Thanks Kris. Appreciate the assistance with the posting.

I believe I read the book some time in 2018. I can't be 100% sure though.

The earliest I would have read it would have been very late 2016; the latest, mid 2019.

Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments There's a kinda similar short story ("Fondly Fahrenheit" RIO) about a killing android who goes batty with (view spoiler). But was a loser (unskilled) human owner who needed it to generate income - and no M/M.

Row | 5 comments Thank you for responding; I appreciate the information. This is not the book, but it sounds interesting; I will have to read it :).

It was more on the sci-fi/horror spectrum than m/m. I also wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't from an author/story in a "sampler book" to get readers interested in other authors. It was an average sized story, not a short story (less than 50 pgs) but I know some of the sampler books will have longer stories in it.

Hopefully, I will find it again.

Ann | 166 comments This is driving me crazy because I feel like I've read this too, but it's not showing up in my reading log at all. If it's the story I am thinking of it, it was definitely not a full length book but rather a short story or novella. Maaaaaybe it was in the same compilation as another one about a man tasked with keeping an eye on a caged alien/monster/thing that unwisely started talking to it??

Ann | 166 comments Ha! I knew I'd read this, but I was looking at my reading log for science fiction, and ignored a book I knew was horror. It might not be the story you were looking for, but the one I was thinking of is All In Fear: A Collection of Six Horror Tales specifically the story Beauties by J.A. Rock which another reviewer talked about as "In this world, Beauties are Artificial Beings (AB’s) created for pleasure and abuse. Sick people pay good money for those things but Lester isn’t a sick person. He programs and raises AB infants and is at the ceremony for work and quite sickened by what he’s shown. It’s here he first meets Ira, an AB so dangerous, so violent that he cannot be sold to the public. He is covered in bruises and Lester makes a brash decision to take him home, keep him safe and study him.

Poor misguided Lester. He truly has no idea what he has just brought home."

It's from the same collection, All In Fear: A Collection of Six Horror Tales, the story is Legion: A Love Story

Row | 5 comments Ann,

Sorry, it's taken me so long to respond - crazy summer. I want to say: thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I thought this would take forever to solve.

It is indeed in the anthology, All In Fear: A Collection of Six Horror Tales, the story is Beauties by J.A. Rock

I knew I had read it but couldn't find it when I was looking for it.
