Jason Cross, the kitchen fitter, had an affair with Deanna Brightman and was set up to look like he had possibly killed her. Did you ever suspect him? Why did he attempt suicide? Did that change or reinforce your opinion of his involvement?

I thought he was too obvious to be a suspect. And, I didn't understand the suicide attempt at all. Was it because he didn't want his wife to find out about his affair with Deanna?

Yes and because his wife didn't know about the statutory rape charge either. I think this was a red herring to throw the reader off what was really happening.

This was definitely a big red herring. I agree with you, Lisa, about why he tried to commit suicide. I thought it a stretch but sex crimes brand a person in a really bad way. So, maybe, but it was still a thin excuse.

I suspected him even though it was obvious. It was the only reason I could think that he would attempt suicide. Later, when he filed charges against Kim and skipped, I was sure it was him.

He was the huge red herring in the story, but after reading so many of these, I realized pretty quickly that he was too obvious to be the one.
