Week 1 — Book Boyfriend

The Bride Test, Helen Hoang – 2/26/21 – ✮✮✮✮✮
Pages ➔ 320
Review — I really enjoyed the Kiss Quotient, but I loved this book. Khai is such a heartbreaking character. His autism sets him apart from the rest of the world, but Esme sees more in him. For her part, I loved watching Esme bloom into a strong, confident woman. It made me so sad when she’d refer to herself as “Esme the Accountant” because she didn’t think Khai or anyone else could accept her for the person she is with, what she feels, is a lacking background. Together these two find themselves and connect in a way that is precious and beautiful.

Free Space — Option 2 (Best Paranormal Romance Series)

To Tame a Highland Warrior (reread), Karen Marie Moning – 2/28/21 – ✮✮✮✮✮
Pages ➔ 388
Review — I definitely stand by my first review; this is a great story full of danger, intrigue, and love. Grimm and Jillian are such strong characters, they almost cancel each other out. But as they come together again both see the changes the years apart have brought and eventually Grimm lets enough of his guard down to let Jillian in. Since I’m doing a reread of this series so I can catch up on the Fever series, I look forward to reacquainting myself with the rest of the highland warriors and their feisty lasses!

yikes! good luck with the move and transition...that does not sound like fun, but hopefully will be a good change in the end.

Not how I planned to finish out the last few years of my career but I'm trying to stay positive.

The moon was full and silver.
Oh my! Wow, just wow! Kate and Curran's adoptive daughter, Julie, returns to Atlanta as Aurelia Ryder. What an amazing woman she has become! She has been gone for eight years and has returned because of a threat to Kate. In the time away, Aurelia has trained with Roland and Erra. She has transformed into a warrior that no one in Atlanta should recognize.
Aurelia first encounter is with Ascanio and his band of boudas. She is such a badass that even Ascanio has to stop and think. Her visit to The Order of Merciful Aid was interesting as she sparred verbally with Nick. Being presented as a Knight-Defender allows Aurelia to investigate a couple of murders that are related to an artifact wanted by Moloch.
There is just so much goodness in this book that I could gush for hours. Derek is back as the beta of the Alaska pact. He is using an alias (seems to be a theme!) and has truly grown into himself.
The street children, especially Marten, have a special place in my heart. Marten is going to be a fearless warrior one day. I can't wait.
Aurelia's horse, Tulip, is an awesome creature. I'm not quite sure what it is that she munches on at times but it is not always her usual grains.
The battles are epic, the characters are amazing and now I want to read the next book right this minute!
Ilona And Gordon never fail to suck you into the story. The world of Kate Daniels just became a better place. I highly recommend this series!

Pretty much just mentioned. You will get caught up in Julie's story so it is OK.

I could not wait for the next season of the Witcher so I had to start these books I love how much of Ciri is in here and hope the show will follow these. I am glad I started this series. Loved seeing Geralt and Yennefer again through out the book but need moooore answers. I can definitely see why Yennefer and Ciri would not get a long at first. The book does jump around a lot so I feel like reading this only on audio would not be good luckily I had both book and audio and kind of did a mix of reading and listening. Why do I like Geralt so much and need more of him in my life?

This series confuses me. I think I heard that you should read a couple of prequels before starting it. I need to look into it a bit more.

Good to know. Thanks!

Review: Oh, Harry. What is Butcher doing to you? It's hard for me to even think where we go from here. Just when I thought things couldn't possibly get any harder/worse for ole Harry, a freaking Titan shows up and tries to lay waste to all of Chicago.
Of course there are casualties. Big ones. And honestly? It feels mostly cruel at this point. I get that the world is a harsh one. I get that when we are facing magical creatures of unimaginable power that mere mortals cannot always make it unscathed. But dang, this whole book hurt.
This was kind of a slog to get through because it is basically all one big long fight scene. There were a couple ebbs and flows but overall I just wanted to get to the finale as soon as possible. There were some side fights that didn't seem to do much to serve the story, and my only guess is that at some point in the future they become relevant. But what feels more likely is that there was not enough to cut to make this and Peace Talks one book, but too much to cut to make this one worth the page count to stand alone. So they left in the filler to flesh it out to a full length. Snooze.
I'm sure I'll keep reading, because I do want to see where things go with Harry and Ebenezer, Thomas and Justine, and Molly. But I'm also glad that I will have to wait awhile before the next chapter so I can sit with my feels on this one.

Review:
I give it a solid 3, I preferred the first book to this one just because this one was more I am a princess and live in a castle. Not really for me but also the story ended when some interesting things were happening like someone coming back alive, maybe there will be a spinoff series with Kenshin. I don't know if I would be interested enough though to continue. I definitely would like to see more of Raiden's mother and maybe more of the night beasts or demons they make deals with. I want to know more of those creatures. This started to scratch the surface of interesting and then ends. What is going to happen with Yumi, what happened with the black clan, are they always going to have to deal with their demon beasts? these are all questions that were not wrapped up. If this is going to be a satisfying ending then I need more.

Review: I had a feeling that the method was going to turn out the way I guessed, but it was still fun to see everyone try to puzzle it out. This was a fun twist on the locked room trope and I liked the peek into the deeper tech of this world. Not much character work in this one which made it drag a little.

I've experienced something similar in the past, Cheryl. It's always full of pros and cons. Hope the transfer goes well for both you and your doc! Good luck!

Review: I loved that the book started in Ireland. It’s always fun when Eve and Roarke can get away from New York, and I always love seeing his family. The mystery here was fast paced and tidy, which made for a quick and fun read. Eve kept me laughing in this one with her twisted and jumbled metaphors, and she is always at her best when she can take down the rich and smug. Good times.
