Use this Topic to discuss books you’re reading or that fit the 9th Scavenger Hunt task.

In February I read A Study in Scarlet (Sherlock Holmes no. 1) by Doyle, Arthur Conan, 1887.

I've previously read Red Harvest, White Noise, The Woman in White, The Girl with Green Eyes (aka The Lonely Girl), The Yellow Wallpaper, A Clockwork Orange, The Color Purple and Half of a Yellow Sun- all on the 1001 list. I seem to like colorful titles. Also read lots of Graham Greene!

A Study in Scarlet is a brilliant book but it‘s not on the list!

Oh hell, you're right- I read it for the Catching Up With Classics group-read. Doyle had two list books but that one isn't. I'll see if I can find another I haven't already read... Ok- I think I'll read The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga. Maybe I'll decide to "double-dip" and use it for my animal book too.
So this will give us three "white" books.

Others that come to mind are Indigo, Blue of Noon, Green Henry, The Green Man, The Red Room, Black Water, The Red and the Black, Almost Transparent Blue, The Bluest Eye, Crome Yellow, Oranges aren‘t the only fruit, The Green Hat, The Red Queen, Black Dogs, The Black Prince, The Black Dahlia, On the Black Hill, Black Box, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Agnes Grey, My Heart so White, Tirant Lo Blanc - Tales of the White Knight, White Teeth

I guess you‘ll find one you haven‘t read among these :)

I've read six of these eight- I'm a very colorful person!
PS: now seven.

SaraSian | 77 comments Black Water by Joyce Carol Oates. Interesting style in this book, almost like poetry with the repeated phrases.

I've finished The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga.
Either I have a penchant for reading books and stories with the word "white" in the title or there are just a lot of them.
Besides this one, in the past I've read Hills Like White Elephants (Hemingway), A Dry White Season (Brink), White Fang (London), White Nights (Dostoevsky), White Noise (DeLillo), White Teeth (Smith) and The Woman in White (Collins). I've only read one thing with the word "black" in the title (the story Fanta Blackcurrant by Makena Onjerika). Hmm. (I haven't read Black Beauty, The Black Dahlia or Black Water).

Yrinsyde | 295 comments I read The Yellow Wallpaper. It was very disturbing.

Mel | 23 comments I read Red Harvest by Dashiell Hammett. It is the only book of Hammett's I have read. I thought it was okay, but it didn't inspire me to pick up anything else by Hammett, although I know I will need to eventually in order to finish the 1001 List! I gave it 4 stars.

I went with Blood Meridian, or the Evening Redness in the West.

Colorful and violent....
