I finished The Cooking Gene: A Journey Through African American Culinary History in the Old South by Michael W. Twitty. I used it for a book written by a female and a book written by a male.

I listened to Nothing Like I Imagined. 6 essays by Mindy Kaling. I used it for three books related to the theme of friendship.
I finished This Is My America and I've been trying to figure out where to plug it in. I wound up putting it down as a stage of life - this being a high schooler as the central character. There are definitely friendships in the book though I wouldn't call that a huge theme and trying to get someone off death row could be kind of looking for a fresh start, but not really? There's one person on the cover but we have a lot of books flagged for that currently.

I had never heard of it, but it looks interesting.

I thought it handled the social justice issues really well and it was an easy read to get hooked into!
We're doing great. We have 21 prompts left with 11 wildcards already, so I think completing this is doable. 🥳I should finish A Stranger in Town tonight which has a pet in it.
Great going team. This read-a-thon has been fun. I started One Crazy Summer (Gaither Sisters #1) by Rita Williams-Garcia yesterday. It's not long so I will try & finish today.I haven't looked to see where to use it.
Ellie wrote: "We're doing great. We have 21 prompts left with 11 wildcards already, so I think completing this is doable. 🥳I should finish A Stranger in Town tonight which has a pet in it."
Thanks for the update on prompts Ellie! I keep meaning to do this and promptly failing. I agree this definitely seems doable.
I finished Anxious People and used for related to Shakespeare. One of the characters quotes Shakespeare and there are a few mentions of Merchant of Venice vs Merchant for Venice.I should be able to finish my audiobook tonight as well which will work for coming-of-age.
I have started Black Girl, Call Home which is a poetry collection - not sure where it could fit apart from single person on the cover which I know has a lot of options but if nothing else it's pages!A Song of Wraiths and Ruin How Long 'til Black Future Month? and Black Buck are the others that I'm likely to finish by the end of the weekend.
For some reason I'm completely exhausted today. We're also celebrating a bubble birthday tonight, so less reading for me today. I'm close to finishing both my audio and physical book, so I may still finish one or both today.
I got home from work early today, no plans tonight, and snow day means no homework (for my child, but seems to feel like my homework). That means more time for reading!
Not much done yet today, going to finish Refugee tonight. Does a grade 7 math text count? Been putting together a review for my class. Grade 8 text tomorrow. haha
I ended up finishing my audiobook while reviewing some Spanish documents (I don't know Spanish, so was just making sure the words on one page matched the words on another page, so...I could listen to my book). I slotted Take a Hint, Dani Brown into two books with hearts on the cover.
I'll be starting Dear Martin next on audio.
Added Refugee to the prompt of "a story about fresh starts". An excellent book. Very excited for my students to read it!
I don't know where my time is disappearing to in the evenings. 😭 By the time I'm ready to sit down and read, it's time for bed! Bring on the weekend.
I slotted Happiness Like Water in the book with P in the title. It was a book of short stories. It could be moved to protagonists of 3 stages of life, most seemed like mid-20s/early 30s. 2 of the short stories had LGBTQIA+ stories featuring love, but most of the stories did not, so it seemed like it didn't fit.
Ellie wrote: "I don't know where my time is disappearing to in the evenings. 😭 By the time I'm ready to sit down and read, it's time for bed! Bring on the weekend."Yay for the weekend! I'm starting my Friday here and am not looking forward to my workday...just need to get through today.
15 prompts to go and 13 wild cards - we might get there today! The completionist in me wants to get all prompts without wild cards, but none of the books I have seem to have elderly characters (for instance).
I just finished How Long 'til Black Future Month? and I put it in for one person on the cover. It really was either that or Female author both of which I know we had a ton of options for. I have a hard time matching short story collections with a lot of the prompts.I am currently reading Black Buck which I will finish Saturday evening or Sunday. The main character's mom is older though I'm not clear exactly how hold and there are other parents/neighbors on the older side who are characters so I think that could work for one of the elderly characters prompt.
So glad it is the weekend! Ready to get started on my reading. Should finish Death on the Nile today or tomorrow. Hope to finish another book but not sure.
I finished Death on the Nile and added to the spreadsheet. So we have 13 unfinished prompts and 13 wild cards- making us officially done! Edit to add: per Emily in the FAQ thread:
When the team gets down to 5 remaining prompts without using Wild Cards, I'll give out the last set of prompts!
Way to get us to "completed" Kathy Jo! I'm reading all black authors this month, and I've found it a little more difficult than usual to find books for specific prompts.
Question for Sarah - Are you reading Gentleman Jack? I'll be starting a new audiobook tonight or tomorrow morning, and I found one I can slot into YA rom com and move You Should See Me in a Crown to LGBTQIA+ with a love story if we need it.

I just started Heartstopper: Volume One and should finish tomorrow which would also work for LGBTQIA+ love story!

Sounds good!
I just finished You Had Me at Hola but I'm not sure where to put it. The characters they play in the tv show are enemies to lovers, the grandparents play a reasonable role in the story but not the main characters or it could just be warm and fuzzy. What do people think would be best?
Enemies to Lovers and Elderly characters are the one's I keep trying to find (and failing at!). If you feel one of those are a good enough fit, I'd go there. Unless you feel they are too much of a stretch.
I am about to finish Happily Ever Afters. It has some warm and fuzzy elements so I think I can slot it in there. It's not a favorite read but the male lead regularly brings yummy baked goods to the fake lead which inspires warm feelings. 😃
Barbara - checking in since I might have been confusing. So far the only book we have recorded for you is Little Women. If you've finished others that I was supposed to put somewhere, let me know! If you only have pages, that's great too, just want to make sure.
Hi, Traci! I haven't finished any books since, but it seems I will be able to finish those I had added to the spreadsheet (one is kindle and the other is paper, that's why I am reading 2 at the same time) + I am also listening to an audio book, which have only 9 chapters left (:
I’m reading A Most Beautiful Thing by Arshay Cooper. I realized this morning when I went to document pages read all I have is location. I tried to change location to pages but it’s not happening. I guess the only thing to do is when I finished put the total pages under that day. I won’t have pages read for Friday or Saturday.

I also finished Heartstopper: Volume One.
My audio hold for Shadow Tag came in and it's short so will likely finish it soon. I'm already more than half through. The characters mention their dogs so it would work for pets. It is also about a couple a little older with kids so a different stage of life.

I started Red at the Bone, which mentions grandparents in the synopsis, so might work for elderly characters?
I just read Kill Joy but it was a bit under 100 pages (the extra is a sample of another book). So I've just put it down for pages.
I finished Shadow Tag it is much more lovers to enemies and definitely not warm and fuzzy! I put it down for stage of life (they're married with children) but it would also work for characters with pets - there were dogs and cats in the family.Black Buck is next up to finish for me - it is due back to the library on Monday so I need to get it done! :) This would work for a different stage of life (he's 22, entering the job market). Some characters talk about aging, but I am guessing they're all shy of really being 'elderly'. I likely will finish this one by this afternoon - it reads quick.
A Song of Wraiths and Ruin is third up for me I think and most likely will work for enemies to lovers when I get there? It's been tagged that way 65 times on Goodreads at least.
I put Red at the Bone down for elderly character. The grandparents play a big role, and though they aren't elderly in much of the story, there was one section where they were looking back on life that seemed as if they were older (this one jumped around in time, so hard to know what ages everyone was at times, especially on audio).Edit: If anyone else has read this and this is wrong, let me know and I'll remove it!
I finished Black Buck and put it into the third different stages of life prompt. Looks like this means we are down to 5 prompts unfilled!
Deborah wrote: "I finished Black Buck and put it into the third different stages of life prompt. Looks like this means we are down to 5 prompts unfilled!"
I like that you got all 3 stages! I'll let Emily know we're ready for the last set.
Here's your last set of prompts, Team Daisy! Happy reading!

We will be there at 5 for our Valentine's date
Five books related to food, cooking, restaurants, or culinary hobbies
Five books in which the main character goes on a date
