I am Vickie a.k.a Serlina from the Caribbean island country Dominica (nope not Dominican Republic). I love reading & have been reading romance novels - harlequin romance novels - for years. I love them. I am a new writer and due to reading such novels have decided to give writing my own a try. Its great being part of reading groups.
Welcome Vickie, are you participating in NaNo? Did you know that Harlequin.com's Community has a support group?

My cousin recently bought Caribbean cruise trips for her mother and her sisters. My Mom had a wonderful time and she took some good pictures. I say some because in most pictures, the main subject is cut in half. She has some delightful pictures of the base of some lovely trees according to her. :)
Enjoy looking around and jump in with a comment where you wish.

I am probably one of the oldest if not the oldest member here at 65 years old.
My late husband and I were married 30 years when I lost him to a heart attack when I was only 47 and he was not yet 51.
I can say that passion does not always die with age, as ours was as vibrant as when we were newlyweds, though our energy level wasn't the same, we still loved each other's kisses and still lit each other's fire, lol!
So I love reliving our romance and that sexual tension through a good romance! They make me smile. I love really great verbal banter and teasing also, because we had that.
I have 3 grown children and one grandchild from each, plus two great-grands[boy/girl] who are a blast!
P.S. Since I was born and raised in the western U.S. in the age of cowboy/TV westerns, rodeos ect. I am especially partial to western-themed romances-historical and contemporary.
Loved the Daddy Dude Ranch trilogy by Rebecca Winters.
Welcome to the group Chris. I loved your introduction especially the description of your marriage. Have fun looking around. ~Kim
I can't take credit for creating the group. I did mention to Harlequin that a group would be a good idea but it was their decision to go forward with one. ~ Kim

Oh well my thanks to both you and Harlequin !

I'm Josh Lanyon and I write male/male romance for Carina Press (among others). However my first novel was published with Harlequin (Mills & Boon) back in the Dark Ages of 1985. It was called

My mother was a huge fan of Harlequin and subscribed to the reader subscription service for years and years. So I have a lot of affection for Harlequin--particularly old school Harlequin-- although my own writing runs toward murder, mayhem and male/male.
It's lovely to meet everyone! I'm very erratic about posting, especially when I'm trying to hit a deadline (which is kind of always) but I do lurk.
Welcome to the group Josh. Post when you can. We all understand being under deadline and won't hold it against you. I hope you can find the time to spend with us next week during Goodreads romance week. I'll be setting up more topics of discussion to help celebrate the week and would love lots of participation. ~ Kim
p.s. 1985 was right about the time I started reading Harlequins. :)

Thank you so much, Kim! ;-)
I'm looking forward to Goodreads Romance month--so yes! I will definitely be popping in.
Re: 1985 - HA! I bet you were still reading beneath the blankets with a flashlight. :-D
Hi Everyone! I've been a part of this group since it first started, but I'm not sure I already introduced myself. I'm Fran. I'm an adult reference librarian, who works on my library's Romance section. I was invited to this group from Harlequin. And like all of you, I am a huge fan of all things Harlequin. You all share such wonderful insights. I am really enjoying being a member of this group.
Hi Fran, it sounds like you have the perfect job for many of us in this group which means were jealous! I'm very happy to hear you have enjoyed being here and I hope that will continue. :)

Thank you for your reply, Kim. And, LOL! I totally love my job! In all seriousness, if anyone needs a librarian, count me in.

Hi Laura, welcome back to romance! Are you planning on starting with the genre you used to read or do you need suggestions for something different?
OK, do you like shorter or longer stories? What movies or TV programs have you recently enjoyed? Do you remember which Harlequins you used to read? High, medium or low heat level?
Thanks so much, Kelli. Nice to meet you, too. Kelli wrote: "Hi Fran! It's nice to meet you. It's wonderful to have another romance fan hanging out. :)

Betty Neels, right? :-D
And some of those Mary Burchells again.

I'm engaged now and these books are getting me through not only the planning stress, but my grad school stress (they got me through college, they can get me through this haha). My fiance finds it amazing how I read through many of these quickly lol. I can't help it, I'm addicted and never want a cure!
Welcome Grace and Janis Kay, it great to see some excitement about romance.
I love hearing stories about passing the books on. I have a huge personal collection which I add to every year but I also give to two different locations, Office of the Aging for their Christmas packages they delivery to the eldery and my local library for their fundraising used book sales. ~ Kim

Welcome to the group and congrats for such a well received debut novel! The equestrian grand prix showjumping world sounds very interesting. My daughter is a member of 4-H, which is a program that present items for judging at county and state fairs. She does crafts but we watch some that do present equestrian riding and jumping. It only takes a bit of imagination to put myself in the intensely competitive and prestigious grand prix setting.
