Excellent! Can't wait to suggest, compare and chat. Favorite author?

I'm Vanessa and I love nothing more than to read and write romance novels! I started reading Harlequin romances in my teens (loooong time ago) and have always been fascinated by paranormal, young adult or urban fantasy romance novels. I'm very excited to have discovered this group! :-)

Since you mentioned you like to write romance. Be sure to join in on our Write a Story 1 Sentence At a Time that has recently started.

I encourage everyone to come join in the fun. The more people adding their sentences, the more the story will go in directions you weren't expecting.

I am also always happy to make friends with those who share my love for reading so please feel free to connect with me on Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter etc :-)
My favourite genres to read are "Golden-Age" and "Cozy" Mystery, with "Historical Romance" following close behind. I also very much enjoy "Contemporary Romance", "RomCom/Chick-Lit" and "Classic RomCom".
While the books of some of my favourite "Romance" authors, like Judith McNaught, do contain some intimate scenes but usually I very much appreciate it when an author is able to maintain decency by exquisitely manipulating words to imply physical chemistry between the lead characters, without going into intimate details. For example, Georgette Heyer and Sophie Kinsella.
There is one more author that I have discovered who writes sweet and reasonably clean romances: Debbie Macomber. Actually, I had read few books by her before but the ones that I recently read have promoted her to my favourite list :-)
Based on my friends' recommendations along with a little research of my own, I have also ordered a book each by Kristan Higgins and Jennifer Probst and hope to enjoy them too :-)
To be honest, I haven't read too many Harlequins or Mills & Boons as yet but my most important requirement in any book, especially Romance, is that there should be a Happily Ever After ...so decided to join this group and am looking forward to discussing books, getting great recommendations and making wonderful friends :-)
Happy Reading! :-)

I love the authors you mentioned, and if you're looking for clean, happyily-ever-after books, you've come to the right place. Heartwarning books are just that--very heartwarming! Look forward to hearing from you again!

Hi Ramla,
Welcome to the group and, I agree, you metioned some great authors. Patricia is right. I think you would enjoy our Heartwarming line and I think the American Romance, Romance or Special Edition would fit your tastes well. To satisfy your historical tastes, I would stick more with the Harlequin Historical over the Historicals offered by HQN and MIRA. Those are usually a bit more steamy. ~ Kim

Hi Adite, will be sure to provide my feedback once I get a chance to read your books :-)

Hi Bonnie, welcome to the group. Be sure to check out our polls, general discussions, fun & games, and reading challenges.

Welcome to the group, Bonnie :-)

Welcome Sammie, I am following your blog through Google+ and Twitter and looking forward to great reviews, thanks! :-)
Hi Sammie, welcome to the group. I read my first paranormal about 10 years ago and have been loving them ever since. ~ Kim

I'm also a wife, mother of two teenagers, and a big reader (although I'm terrible at maintaining my Goodreads shelves and didn't even bother adding the zillions of romances I read as a teenager). On the Harlequin side, I do read a lot of Desire books, but I also love Presents, Blaze, and Super Romance. Otherwise, I mostly read contemporary, usually a bit steamy, and I also have a penchant for biographies and memoir on the occasion I step away from romance.
My first Desire book, That Night with the CEO, comes out in a month! I had hoped to post that I have a giveaway going for it, but Goodreads is taking their sweet time approving it. I will post it on the appropriate thread when they move things along. I have three more Desire books coming out in the next year, including the follow-up to TNWTC, Pregnant by the Rival CEO. (My husband likes to tease me about the second one by asking, "What happens in that book?") I'll do giveaways for all of those books as well, so hopefully some members of this group will be winners!

Hi Karen, we love authors in this group. :) Yippee! Another author who likes to write office romance which is my favorite theme after my historicals. When I step away from romance it usually to read fantasy, sci-fi or some classic that I wasn't forced to read in school.

Hey Pam--so nice to meet you. It's wonderful that you teach reading and take the time to be well-versed in what your students are reading. It's important. Let me know if you come across anything that really resonates with your male students. My 16 yo daughter is a voracious reader, but my 14 yo son is not. He was when he was younger, but now he's convinced there's nothing good to read. He definitely gravitates toward non-fiction. He's not into fantasy or adventure and that's a definite handicap in finding fiction.

Hi, Delores! Welcome, welcome!

Welcome to the group Raquel. You sound a lot like I used to be. Things have improved somewhat since I got my mom, sister and daughter all hooked on some sort of romance reading. I'm still looking for more people to discuss my favorite characters or books with.

Welcome Carolyn. :) Very cool "meeting" one of the narrators. I hope you'll enjoy the group.
A couple of us were just discussing audiobooks, here. I would love it if more people joined in.
