Pyper Addams | 2 comments Hi! I'm Pyper Addams. I'm from Canada and I'm new to Goodreads. I'm looking forward to meeting fellow Romance Readers. I enjoy reading different books from many different genres, but my comfy-feeling genre is always the contemporary romance. I read books all the time... while I cook, do laundry and I listen to audio books while taking walks, running, waiting for kids to finish baseball or hockey practices, etc. So, if you come across a book you absolutely loved, please share the name of it with me. I'm always looking for something new to read... or listen to. I'm also looking for friends who love to read or write romance... I forgot to mention, I'm a romance writer too. :)

Pyper Addams | 2 comments Hi Alyssa! Nice to meet a fellow Canadian AND a fellow book addict too! Congrats on getting married. I loved your summer camping story with Grandma. It brought back good memories for me, of doing the same thing. Ha! I look forward to sharing book suggestions with you... even though, you are much younger than I. ;)

Since you mentioned you like to write romance. Be sure to join in on our Write a Story 1 Sentence At a Time that has recently started.

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I encourage everyone to come join in the fun. The more people adding their sentences, the more the story will go in directions you weren't expecting.

Ramla Zareen Ahmad | 14 comments Hello everyone, my name is Ramla Zareen. I am originally from Pakistan but have been settled in Germany since more than 8 years, and am now officially a German national. I actually came to Germany soon after my marriage and though adjusting to the cold weather and learning a new language was a challenge but now I love my life here! It is kind of difficult to find English books in the libraries and book stores so I mostly buy mine online from www.amazon.de and have now accumulated a large collection, too large in my husband's opinion! :-) Lolz Not only do I love reading books, but I also love to keep them with me and very much enjoy re-reading them too! :-) Thankfully, my 3 and a half years old daughter also love books and so my husband is now quite resigned to a life with two bookworms :-)

I am also always happy to make friends with those who share my love for reading so please feel free to connect with me on Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter etc :-)

My favourite genres to read are "Golden-Age" and "Cozy" Mystery, with "Historical Romance" following close behind. I also very much enjoy "Contemporary Romance", "RomCom/Chick-Lit" and "Classic RomCom".

While the books of some of my favourite "Romance" authors, like Judith McNaught, do contain some intimate scenes but usually I very much appreciate it when an author is able to maintain decency by exquisitely manipulating words to imply physical chemistry between the lead characters, without going into intimate details. For example,  Georgette Heyer and Sophie Kinsella.

There is one more author that I have discovered who writes sweet and reasonably clean romances: Debbie Macomber. Actually, I had read few books by her before but the ones that I recently read have promoted her to my favourite list :-)

Based on my friends' recommendations along with a little research of my own, I have also ordered a book each by Kristan Higgins and Jennifer Probst and hope to enjoy them too :-)

To be honest, I haven't read too many Harlequins or Mills & Boons as yet but my most important requirement in any book, especially Romance, is that there should be a Happily Ever After ...so decided to join this group and am looking forward to discussing books, getting great recommendations and making wonderful friends :-)

Happy Reading!  :-)
--Ramla Zareen

Hi Ramla,

Welcome to the group and, I agree, you metioned some great authors. Patricia is right. I think you would enjoy our Heartwarming line and I think the American Romance, Romance or Special Edition would fit your tastes well. To satisfy your historical tastes, I would stick more with the Harlequin Historical over the Historicals offered by HQN and MIRA. Those are usually a bit more steamy. ~ Kim

Karen Booth (karen_booth) | 8 comments Hi to Kim and the entire group! My name Is Karen Booth and I'm a new Harlequin Desire author. I've published eight books prior to joining the team at Desire and I couldn't be any more excited about being a part of Harlequin. I've also been a member of this group for awhile, but have been lurking…as an author, I get the feel for a group before jumping in. We're not always welcome, which is fine. Wouldn't want to be a group-crasher.

I'm also a wife, mother of two teenagers, and a big reader (although I'm terrible at maintaining my Goodreads shelves and didn't even bother adding the zillions of romances I read as a teenager). On the Harlequin side, I do read a lot of Desire books, but I also love Presents, Blaze, and Super Romance. Otherwise, I mostly read contemporary, usually a bit steamy, and I also have a penchant for biographies and memoir on the occasion I step away from romance.

My first Desire book, That Night with the CEO, comes out in a month! I had hoped to post that I have a giveaway going for it, but Goodreads is taking their sweet time approving it. I will post it on the appropriate thread when they move things along. I have three more Desire books coming out in the next year, including the follow-up to TNWTC, Pregnant by the Rival CEO. (My husband likes to tease me about the second one by asking, "What happens in that book?") I'll do giveaways for all of those books as well, so hopefully some members of this group will be winners!

Hi Karen, we love authors in this group. :) Yippee! Another author who likes to write office romance which is my favorite theme after my historicals. When I step away from romance it usually to read fantasy, sci-fi or some classic that I wasn't forced to read in school.

Pam | 163 comments Karen I am a huge Desire fan myself. I look forward to your book. How very exciting for you and the rest of the the Desire fans. I am an avid reader My favorite books to read are Harlequin Present and Desire. I take turns. Of course like most voracious readers I read other genres as well. When I step away from romance it is usually an epic fantasy or teaching/professional development. I also read young adult literature because I am a reading teacher at a High school. It is a must in order to have conversation and suggestion for students to read.

Hey Pam--so nice to meet you. It's wonderful that you teach reading and take the time to be well-versed in what your students are reading. It's important. Let me know if you come across anything that really resonates with your male students. My 16 yo daughter is a voracious reader, but my 14 yo son is not. He was when he was younger, but now he's convinced there's nothing good to read. He definitely gravitates toward non-fiction. He's not into fantasy or adventure and that's a definite handicap in finding fiction.

Racquel James (rvjames) | 1 comments Hello and thanks for the invite! I'd just like to say how happy I am to be apart of the group because I feel like I don't know anyone who is as passionate about reading and I don't have anyone to talk to about books with. Not to mention, I'm a terribly antisocial person lol but I'm working on that! But I love romance/paranormal novels. I love getting lost in stories that are nothing like the real world. If anyone checks out my profile and your interests run along with mine, please feel free to add me so I can see what my fellow goodreaders are into (I seem to be running out of good series to read). Haha Anyway, thanks for having me!
