Data Mining of Medical Records Could Predict Domestic Violence

Whoa - I just read something yesterday that was somewhat related to this topic about legislation to prevent insurance coverage being denied in most states in domestic violence cases. I'll see if I can find it... and post it.I don't know how I'd feel about this sort of database. I need to think on this a bit more (and completely read the article linked).
I'm suspicious of anything like this that mines data and makes presuppositions about people based on that data. It's all a little too "Minority Report" for me.*adjusts tin foil hat*
OH HEEEELLLLL to the NAW! I just saw the graph for the article - that sh..tuff pisses me off.I'm with Matt - except maybe more like "WAY TOO Minority Report for me" instead of "a little too 'Minority Report' for me."

Fascinating. What do you think? Intrusive? A good idea because some women might avoid abuse, even if some men are identified as potential abusers by accident? Technology run amok like a Science Fiction movie?
