J.E. Rowney (jerowney) | 301 comments Cathleen - in the UK it’s a £40 minimum spend in the past year. Apart from that all the same rules apply.

I will be honest and say I don't know. I am a Vine reviewer so not sure the same rules apply to me as the rest of the universe. But as far as I know the $50 or equivalent in local pennies rule applies.

Sanam A | 82 comments Hey, I messaged earlier too
I want to enter with my book. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
Let me know if there is still a spot.

message 55: by E.M. (new)

E.M. Swift-Hook | 3487 comments Welcome, Sanam!

Everyone - please post to tell me if you have reviewed any of the four people above you on the list (the list wraps around so (10) is 'above' (1). Please also check that if you have already reviewed any of the four people 'below' you on the list they have more books available that you have not yet reviewed and post to tell me if they have not.

You can check if you have reviewed anyone before by going to your reviews through your profile (the link is under your portrait), clicking the 'Author' heading to get them in alphabetical author order, and then checking through to see. You can check if someone has reviewed you in the same way through their profile.

When everyone has posted 'Good to go' we will be.

message 56: by J.E. (new)

J.E. Rowney (jerowney) | 301 comments I’ve reviewed 2 and 3 but they have other books I can read. I can’t see any clashes in the authors due to read me. Good to go as far as I can see.

message 57: by Sanam (new)

Sanam A | 82 comments Thanks a lot for having me. :)
I have not reviewed the authors in the list before.

Victor Hess | 92 comments Ive reviewed Gene Kendall, he has another book I can read.
JE has reviewed The Clock Tower Treasure, but she can read Jesse Sings.
Good to go.

message 59: by Ed (new)

Ed Morawski As I said previously,
I have reviewed #5 Deadly by Gene Kendall so I will need a different book of his to read.

Philip & GJ #1 & #3 have reviewed other books of mine.

message 60: by Cathleen (new)

Cathleen Townsend | 262 comments No clashes for me in the list as it is now. Gene is above and Francis below, and that's all I need. : )

G.J. Griffiths (gjgriffiths) | 723 comments I am happy to go ahead with the group. Thanks for it is still the case,JE has reviewed one !maybe two of my books and I have reviewed one of Ed's.

message 64: by Gene, Admin (new)

Gene Kendall | 1291 comments Mod
I don't have any conflicts, but it looks as if I would only get one review for the book I have listed, having to provide alternates for three on the list. :)

message 65: by Cathleen (last edited Feb 15, 2021 08:12PM) (new)

Cathleen Townsend | 262 comments Well, Gene, I followed you on BookBub. Not the same as a review, of course, but I can't give you that. If you'd also like an author interview on my blog, PM me. : )

And I know the feeling. I've done one of these rounds for one review before.

message 66: by Victor (new)

Victor Hess | 92 comments I've purchased the books I'll be reviewing here. You will not need to send me a PDF. Let me know if you'll need a copy of Jesse Sings or The Clock Tower Treasure.

message 67: by Cathleen (last edited Feb 15, 2021 09:45AM) (new)

Cathleen Townsend | 262 comments Those who are assigned to read me, please get Snow White from Amazon (or anywhere else, I'm wide), since it's free.

I'll post my reviews on Amazon and goodreads, as per the group guidelines. If you also want me to post your reviews anywhere else--BookBub, Apple, Kobo, Google Play, B&N--just PM me with the links, and I'll be happy to oblige.

I've checked the four books I'm supposed to review, and they aren't free or $.99, and I'm not in KU. So, I'll begin reading my assigned books as soon as they're provided to me. If you want to streamline the whole first PM, then email thing, you can directly email me here: https://cathleentownsend.com/about/co....

message 74: by Cathleen (last edited Feb 15, 2021 07:38PM) (new)

Cathleen Townsend | 262 comments I've PMed the four authors beneath me, asking them to provide me with a copy of their book. Since I'm #6 on the list, that means the authors in the spots 7-10. Hopefully, this info will be helpful to Kristy.

Along those lines, Kristy, it's unwise to post your actual email publicly, where spambots can get to it. Some people do something like emailname at (instead of @) emailprovider.com, but I wouldn't even do that. I'd delete that part. Just FYI. : )

message 75: by Kat (new)

Kat (katwiththehat) | 2277 comments Hey guys! It's really great that everyone is so excited to get started reading! However, please wait just a *little* bit longer until EM officially kicks off the round. That way we're 100% sure things have been checked and double checked, that there aren't any issues, and that there is a mod assigned to answer questions, especially as things like reading order and assigned books can be confusing if you haven't done this before. Thanks!

Thanks, I'm going to hold off sending you you until the moderator gives the nod. I deleted my email addy above. It's the one I use for public release/contact but if that's not the norm here I don't want to violate custom! :-)

message 77: by Cathleen (last edited Feb 15, 2021 07:35PM) (new)

Cathleen Townsend | 262 comments Of course, Kristy, and I shouldn't have jumped the gun about exchanging books. Sorry for that. The advice about email address posting applies to any online site that's not password protected, but of course it's up to you whether or not you think it's worth following. It's what I was told on an online forum years ago. : )

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reads/reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their readers in a format the reviewer can manage. Everyone must be able to provide and accept PDF. You may buy or borrow the books you are due to read if you wish, and I’m sure the author will appreciate the verified review, but IT IS NOT COMPULSORY. There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines.

All reviews must be posted to GR. We also encourage members to post on Amazon. When you have posted your reviews, please post the links to each of your reviews, not the book page in this thread.
The mod of each round will record whether members have posted reviews on Amazon and for the good of all, members who persistently fail to post reviews or DNF reviews to Amazon, will find mods less than willing to add them to subsequent groups.

Postings to other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap.

To exchange book files, my advice is to use PM to give email addresses to each other (save the chance of spammers getting your addies from this open forum).

Setting up and modding these rounds is a labour of love, with a lot of emphasis on the ‘labour’. If you want to show appreciation for all the hard work we admins put in for the group, you could download one of our books as a ‘thank you’.

Happy reviewing, everyone :)

message 79: by E.M. (new)

E.M. Swift-Hook | 3487 comments Please read this especially if you are new to these review rounds.

Quick 'start-up' summary for anyone new who might be scratching their heads. You are reviewing the four books 'below' you on the list.

If you can, please choose to buy some or all of the books - or read the books on KU, if you are a subscriber and the books are available there. If you can buy it adds weight to your review as it gives the 'Verified Purchase' stamp on Amazon. If you are obtaining your books direct from Amazon either through purchase or KU please post to say so.

However, as not everyone can buy, you should PM the four people who will be reviewing you (the four above you on the original list of names) through their Goodreads author pages. Click on the down arrow beside the 'Follow Author' button under their picture and it opens a menu which will allow you to message them.

Ask what kind of file they would like or say you can only offer PDF, though unless a publisher uploaded it for you, you can always download a .mobi of your own book from Amazon.

Don't forget to ask where to send it so they can give you their email.

The four people who you are reviewing should be in touch with you in a similar way or post on the thread to say they are getting your book directly from Amazon.

Please make sure you have exchanged ALL FOUR books - or have been assured by your reviewers they will buy your book or read it through KU - as soon as possible. Some people read fast and it can be very frustrating to have to wait a long time to get hold of a book you are committed to review.
Don't forget to post the links to your reviews here so you can be signed off for them.

Please post your review to Goodreads, your own Amazon store and any other Amazon stores you might have access to as well.

Chrys Cymri will be modding the round so PM her with any issues ongoing please. :)

Ed Morawski Hey Gene,
fyi - when you click on the Amazon link for your book: Black Hat Blues - your book does not come up. (every different 'black hat' comes up except yours)
You might want to correct that.

Thanks, Ed. Do you mean the Amazon button on the book's Goodreads page? I honestly don't know how to edit that.

message 88: by Ed (new)

Ed Morawski You're going to have to re-add it through your author dashboard or ask goodreads to do it.

The only way I could find it on amazon to purchase it was to search your other books and then search your name, find your author page and then the book..
Not easy.

I'm in the UK and typing "Black Hat Blues" into the search box pinged up Gene's book as the top search result. Maybe it's a local issue?

Hi all, your mod dropping in.

Could I please remind people that it's very important to never give the impression that we might be pressuring a reviewer about a review. Best just to write 'Thanks for the review' or, as my mother always told me, 'If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all.'

Although it's not explicitly mentioned in the rules, I also think private messages about a review is not a good route to take. People spend time reading the books and writing their reviews, and should then be left in peace to continue on to the next book. Again, this could be read as pressure by the person who wrote the review.
